Weird sound on start up. It's louder in person, like a metallic tapping sound. It's done this a couple of times now. Skip to 38 seconds.

Is it only during a cold start?

Yeah only cold starts and only occasionally. Goes away quickly and I don't hear anything while driving. It's really weird. I have no idea what it is I've never heard anything like it before.

Kind of hard to hear in the video but I did hear it. It almost just sounds like a weird resonance in the exhaust. Is the exhaust running on anything. I’ve seen a few times where it’s rubbing on the transmission cross member and sounds almost like that.

I'll crawl under there and have a look see. But the other times I heard it it definitely sounded like it was coming from the engine bay.

Maybe try to get another video closer to the engine, might sound different on the video.

I'll try. It's not easy to capture unless I just start filming every single start up...I'm guessing you're right and it's just something in the exhaust hitting something.

Yeah, sort of non-rythmic and not repeating on a repeatable frequency which is probably good!

Check the heat shields on the manifolds if it still has them, almost sounds like they could be rattling abit.If you have them and they move odds are you have a broken exhaust manifold bolt.

although it doesn't sound like broken exhaust bolts, the description of when it happens and its duration makes it seem like broken exhaust manifold bolts

so it shouldn't be that... unless ofcourse you didn't torque one or 2 down all the way or it backed out a bit.

Hi ScLeCo,

If you're not able to determine the cause based on suggestions provided here and you decide to address this with your dealer, please let us know via PM. We'd be happy to provide you with an additional layer of support for that process.

Did you do long tubes or shorties? If you did shorties check the heat shields on the cats....

Hard to tell from video from the back of exhaust........need 1 closer to engine if that is where sound is the loudest.
