The plot thickens.

As posted earlier 2018 Ram 1500 Nav radio. Missing sirius.

When I pressed memory 2 on my seat low and behold the radio went to a Sirius channel and I could change channels. They worked fine BUT I still only have AM/FM buttons on the screen.

As soon as I pressed FM that was the end of satellite radio.

I went to ALFAOBD and in the radio was able to select Sirius input and it works for a few seconds then reverts back to FM.

Still no SXM button on the tuner!

I just went through the BCM and checked all the country codes to make sure they were USA. One wasn't the other was.

I set them all to USA and am letting the truck sleep.........

I tried to update the firmware in the radio again to the latest and still failing around 70%.

I've tried 3 different thumbdrives.

Slightly interesting is when I try to load the 18.14 listed in mpgrimm2's awesome thread it says it's not compatible software.

Radio currently has Software version 17.34.30 and Application version USA-ER-18.13.0-20170825-E06V

Shouldn't that software version accept the 18.14 that's posted on the forums here?

Thanks.

I would think that should work. Wish I had a copy of v19.9 ... Probably the best version so far.

At this point I'm wishing I had a copy of anything that my radio would take lol.

I have a feeling that if I can get a single update to fully load the problem I'm having would go away.

I think so. It’s a weird situation for sure. Your truck was new when you bought it, or did you buy it used? Maybe the dealer can flash the bcm and start from there. The radio was bought with an issue, but it just might be a software issue that would be resolved if it would take an update, like you said. Do you know anyone else you can try this radio with? Someone with a UAQ or UAS already that can see if it works in their vehicle, or updates for them?

Finally got all the parts for the 8.4 conversion from my RA2 in a 2018 2500. Everything went if fine except the resistor. It took a little finesse and a lot patience to get it at the right angle and finally seat. I initially had dual zone ATC come up on my radio, so I let it sit for about 20 minutes and it switched to MTC. I then set it to dual zone ATC and let it sit for couple of hours, then switched to single ATC. Thats all working now. I checked the version number and sure enough I had 21.9 that had audio issues and I could tell by listening to it. I download and flashed it this morning to 22.6 and it worked great. I checked the Android auto and made sure my backup camera was working, and pushed a lot of the menu buttons to see whats all there. I remember something mentioned about travel link so I will investigate that. The A/c and heat appear to be working good. I like seeing the actual temp I have it set on versus just turning the knob to a spot.
If there is anything else I should be checking, compatibility wise just let me know.

I bought the truck used. The original 8.4" nav unit works fine.

I am sending the radio back and purchased another one that is advertised as working properly. I will post my results after I get it installed.

If the replacement takes updates fine and xm works fine then I know it was a faulty radio.

Anyone know if changing both special packages with Alpha OBD to Jeep will give you the ability to choose from different radio themes such as this one on a Ram UAQ without causing any issues?3fc82c5c450bfdc38b9d24850704f2d4.jpg

Yes it'***** and miss. I forget (and am unsure) exactly which setting will change the skins but it can be done. I've had mine display Dodge, Ram, Jeep etc when fooling with it.

Is yours a UAQ? I just don't want to cause any issues by changing the special package to anything other than Ram trim levels

Anyone ever see this connection (the black rectangular Molex) on the back of a UAS before? If so, do you know it's purpose?5e6d31e2d54902f7c9bf5a19d4d08162.jpg

Hmmm...that looks suspiciously like the the C1 connector of the 5th gen’s central vision processing module. 8cDfn3N.jpg
I’ll bet you need that connection in order to run the 5th gen digital backup camera through the red fakra connector to the right of it.

Interesting thanks! This is from a 2018 Ram 1500 UAS (68331635AH). I wonder if I should look into keeping this one instead of the newer one I have just in case something useful can come of that connection...

Weird that the 2018 UAS has it. This is the UAQ from a 2020 Jeep Gladiator that I had, and it didn’t have it wiy7jha.jpg

Agreed, I have seen four UASs/UAQs myself so far trying to fix my issue and this is the first with it.

I'm wondering if there is any funtionality it could have in a 4th Gen?

I stand corrected. I'm looking at a 2018 UAQ that also has it.

In addition, I currently have a UAQ and a UAS open to compare internals and so far I see zero hardware differences? So far everything looks identical? Makes me wonder...I think I'm going to see what happens with a FrankenUconnect.

I have a 2018 2500 tradesman that I put a 2018 ram 1500 UAQ in it
I have everything set up, got the camera soft buttons to display and work even though I don't have a cargo camera yet(the screen is blank). I have looked for the "trailer hitch camera"setting but could not fine it in alpha obd. Has anybody doen this and can tell me where it is?

Also when I was going through the settings I saw the radio has a WIFI hot spot so I turned it on and it works! Has anybody run across this and do I have to pay for that service eventually?

Trailer hitch camera should be far down on the list, right before cabin-net settings.
I did set up the hot spot for the 3 month/1gb trial. So far, Sirius, travel link, and traffic plus is still active.
