I think that might be the infamous Jeep firmware/radio. Try and update with a 15 VIN and then a 14 Ram. If neither work, stop and return it! Dont try and update it anymore or itll brick it.

It has ram emblem when I boot up and everything is working. Not sure if I'll update at this point.

Splash screen changes on its own depending on what kind of car its in. It can be from a Chrysler and show a Ram logo.

Update- Online vin says it came from 2015 however when I download uconnect update it recommends 15-17-5my15 and try to run it says incompatible...is there another update I should try ?

According to Indaram, that AA model came out of a grand Cherokee. He had issues with updates on it as well. Not sure what else to tell you on this one.

Thanks to cptwing for the info below. I have updated the OP...

Mike here is the tag off of my 2014 8.4AN it came out of a 2014 Laramie 3500. I redacted the XM ID. This particular radio updated with zero issues and always worked flawlessly running 14.25.05. I am not using it now only because the 2015 I bought of of Jared has Slacker and Pandora on it and I do not want to change anything. Mike I am wondering something else here after looking at this tag. What I wonder is does the supplier make a difference, its possible that Fiat receives these units from multiple suppliers and maybe ones from a certain supplier tend to have more issues then say a different supplier. Just something to look at.

Here is the part number for my 2015 RA4, I bought this from Jared4.7, he sent me a card with a vin and also written on it is 2015 Ram 1500, however when I check the Vin it says 2015 Ram 2500 Laramie. I am running 15.06.1 and it has also been flawless. The current upgrade is 15.17.5 but I refuse to upgrade because it works great and I am afraid of loosing the Via mobile apps (Pandora and Slacker).

Oh and FYI this information is not available in "Engineering Mode", it is located in "Dealer Mode".
Engineering mode...Hold Hot+cold+buttons for 5 seconds.
Dealer Mode...........Hold Hot+Cold+Front defrost buttons for 5 seconds.

Well I had a real roller coaster ride this week guys. First I tryed to update from software quoted above. The suggested download based on vin was incompatible so then I installed a 14 update. That worked except for step 11 which is xm and I lost navigation. I ordered a second 2015 unit lol. It arrived and screen was cracked. I said screw it went to nav repair. He told me the unit quoted above was definitely a 15 and that it's not the radio but software. He said that modders as well as paying customers have problems with some these updates...anyways left unit and 3 hrs later he called and said ready. I now have 15.17.5 with Pandora, slacker etc (although I don't think they will work).

Do you have all 4 of the via mobile apps? Slacker, Pandora, Aha and Iheart? On mine I have and they did work until just recently. Now I get a message "No active subscription, please go to the uconnect store and re activate your account". Kind of bummed and confused, its a 2015 radio and the via mobile apps have a 5 year free trial, so how could it run out, weird?
Anyway very curious if you have all 4 and if they work.

They are easy to use just install the uconnect app on your phone and link your respective account for they app. Please let us know?

BT Streaming sounded better than Pandora when I tried it on that 15 radio. With the most recent update BT streaming sounds awesome. Dam close to my iPod awesome. Pandora on the via app (when I played with it) sounded like a crappy low bitrate mp3. Uconnect probably saw your data usage among other peoples and put 2 and 2 together. They zipped up that loophole.

That's my guess as well, but the data usage is through my phone not thru them. I think they are just being aholes about the whole business, there is absolutely no reason we can not use the apps except they won't let us, when you use them there is no cost to them at all, Pandora etc are free anyway and it does not use their network at all.

Really funny too the only way they could have disabled my Via mobile apps was to send some sort code to my radio, or when you launch one of the via mobile apps it has to now get authenticated on their server. So lets see they say I cannot connect to them but they connect to me oh really. That in itself proves they are full of crap when they say our trucks won't work with uconnect.

Just another reason why I think this is my first and last Fiat truck.

Jared you used the via mobile apps on my radio? I asked you before and you told me no, that when you had the radio they were not on there?
