I'll check with a buddy of mine at work tomorrow , he has an 8.4" CA .radio .

Not sure if he has ever updated it or not , its my old 13 Canadian radio I sold him a couple years ago for his 15 Ram .

Note: the first 3 digits of the PN are unique for each model year. Last 2 alpha digits don't matter.

I was looking at the first posts and it looks like the part numbers for all the years after 2013 start with the same 3 digits (682). Did you mean to say "the last three digits" instead, or am I misreading something?

I have my most recent CA update I installed still sitting on my computer 17.11.07 and I have the new one available to me on the site but I have not downloaded it as I plan on installing cargo cam once Mike finishes my harness. More than happy to assist

I should follow up with mine is a 2014 not sure if that is a vp4 or not. All I know is I have full intentions of installing the 2018 uaq 4c once I run into some overtime money

Yes Sir , I had it .
And I should still have it in my trucks mod history section of my Maint logs if I didn't toss it once I sold the radio . I typically only keep records of current mods , but if it's listed on a sheet that has current mods on it I'll definitely have it [emoji106]

With the v17.xx.xx firmware being available across the board these days, is there any benefit or disadvantage to using a radio from a '15+ in a '14 truck? (Other than avoiding the '16 ones due to their issues in '14s & '15s)

With the new 17.11.07 firmware the 16 radios are fine in the 13 and 14 trucks. I hsve a 16 in my 14 and it wotks fine. The 17.11.07 firmware does have the issue of not showing the caller ID on some occasions when people call you and which is annoying. The 17.43.03 firmware corrects the issue but on the 13 to 15 radios it puts the backup camera to your rear view mirror if you run the cargo cam option. The main advantage with the 15 and newer radios is the free Travel Link and Traffic for 5 years.

Do the 16 & 17 radios also force the backup camera to the mirror with the 17.43 firmware? I don't have a cargo camera, but I've considered getting one.

We were just discussing that the other day and I'm really not sure. I currently have the 17.11.07 firmware in my 16 and I'm considering upgrading so my caller ID works better but I'm also installing a cargo cam so I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place trying to decide whether or not I want to update my firmware. The 17.11.07 firmware was a glitch in the 13 to 15 radios which made it to where we could view the backup cam and cargo cam on the main screen like they could with the 16 and 17 radios I am thinking since they corrected that with a new firmware for the 13 to 15 radios the 16 and 17 radios should still most likely show the cargo cam in the backup cam in the screen after the 17.43.03 update.

both have Bu Cam & Cargo Cam displayed on their radios and I believe are on 17.43.x fw

@DeereGuy had a 16 Ra4 in his 16 2500 at one point (before the UAQ) that may have had the 17.43.x on it, but I'm not sure.

I haven't heard of anyone but I'm pretty sure if you have a 13 to 15 radio it's automatically going to put the cargo cam to the screen and the backup camera to rear view mirror because that's the way they were originally configured in those years.

Another question on the subject. I am currently looking at an RA4 out of a '16 that has the 15.x firmware on it. If I were to install this in my '14, do you think it would work well enough to run the upgrade to the 17.x firmware? I've not really seen what the "not working in a 14 or 15" actually entails.
