Will look into Borla and get it done-but my system is problem free and not about to cut out the factory set-up until I have to. Factory exhausts seem to last longer-and what the hell-I paid for it- Im using it!

You got a Borla for $129?! That's awesome!

Borla makes good stuff. I have 2 of them on my Mustang. Borlas sound fabulous. Probably not loud enough for a lot of guys. But I'd be real happy with what you have.

Looks good too. Well done!
You guys in the States get A much better deal on Borla and their competitors!!

Blackbetty14, have you noticed any drone (more than stock)? What about sound with MDS enabled? I want to go borla route as well, but I don't want it to be obnoxious because most of my daily driver is between 45-75mph and the rest is 30mph with MDS enabled and active.

I have no drone on the highway for sure. Quiet as a mouse between 55-75 and 1500-2k rpms. I get some resonance in the cab on light throttle like 20-25% between 1500-2k in the 2-4 gears but at light throttle or anything over 25% it’s gone. I think it could be solved with some additional sound deadening in the cab (I have a crew cab). It’s def louder in the resonance area but it’s not drone. It’s minimal so I can deal with it but I drive 180 miles between 45-75mph as my commute and it’s not bad at all. My favorite is the light throttle below 15% as it just sounds great inside the truck.
I always leave my truck in manual mode 8 so I don’t activate mds. But when I forget you can hear it bc the time changes. Wouldn’t say I’ve let it happen long enough to get a feel for the sound but it sounds empty so I kick it into manual mode. The Borla is def louder than my 23” dynomax ultra I had on my 14 express.

haha I get it. Stock pipes and muffler last a good bit. But the stock muffler will rot and by that point you might not be able to get it off the pipes connected to it which could make it worse. At least the Borla muffler won’t rot.

really fills out the indents on bumper-but I couldnt hear anything-or was that the intent?

no lol. The bumper fill out is my carven 5” tips. I had them on the stock muffler. The Borla muffler is a good bit louder than the stocker. On cold starts it’s alittle shocking but mellows our pretty quick. In my video the wind was so loud you couldn’t hear it too well. On the throttle it’s louder and inside the cab as well. At low/warmer idle the Borla is pretty quiet. A little louder than stock and deeper. Much louder up to 2kish and then it tones down alittle as the rpms increase and the exhaust velocity picks up.

I sure wish somebody said that to me 45 yrs ago!
Once you start, it NEVER ends. Never. I have never owned any car, truck, bike that I left stock.
Damn, I spent a boatload of money trying to have a unique vehicle.
What do I end up with? Another friggin' RAM. There's about 80 Million of them in my town. Just not any that looks like mine.[emoji14]

These are 19” Pro XS incorporated into my custom dual setup. Yes, those are factory cats that we re-used right after the long tubes. 5” pypes tips were used to finish this off.

Update: I have put on thousands of miles and the truck still sounds good. I have noticed a smidge of drone/resonance in higher load/low rpms in only some gears. It doesn’t always have it so I’ve waited to see how I want to deal with it. I’m super sensitive to drone/resonance so It was on my list to do. My commute is like 180miles so I’m in the truck a lot so I’ve been wanting to do this for some time lol.

I added a decent sized ZZPerformance 3” short super quiet resonator by replacing the piping before the muffler that I made (16.25” stainless pipe) with this resonator but had to modify the outlet to work. Since the Borla is a 3” ID inlet and the resonator is also a 3” inlet I had to cut off the resonator outlet and weld on a 3” OD piece so it slips into the Borla as I have literally no room for extra space. All I was able to do was start it last night late after the install which took about 1hr. The resonator took the cold start rasp right out of the muffler and reduced the loudness slightly after just idling. This resonator is a straight through perforated core but is a 3 chamber (middle is hollowed out chamber) and it’s designed for the turbo cobalt SS world who get lots of rasp and drone when they upgrade the exhausts. I haven’t been able to drive it as I will in about an hour to get an impression of how it worked. I’m going to be making a thread of it separately calling it part2.

pic of it installed and modified.

Resonator worked great! Drone and resonance is essentially gone and it’s reduced the loudness of the exhaust a good bit... loving the deep tone that’s alittle less loud. Also cold start was much more tolerable than before. Guys should try these out if you got drone issues!

Thank you for posting all of this. I literally ordered the Borla Pro XS yesterday so it was nice to see this post talking about real world experience. Like you, can not stand drone. I ended up taking off and returning a totalflow muffler because of it. Droned unbearably bad between the rpm/load ranges you described.

Maybe I'll end up getting that resonator like you but we shall see.

FYI if you want to turn heads, walk into a Kohls store carrying a muffler and use their Amazon return services. Lol.

Any issue with the 3" in/duel 2.25 muffler lining up with the tails? My stock looks to have a slight offset input.
Is the output spread on the borla the same as the stocks?

Got my XS for $123.35 shipped from Ebay back in December. No cats, but retained the resonators. I like the sound until I get on it. Then it has that popping glass pack sound that I don't like. I would rather have a steady rumble at all times like the Flowmasters on my SS. Any recommendations on a replacement or a solution to eliminate the popping?

Sounds like the issue was the removed cats, I don't get the popping on my truck with factory y-pipe. Normally popping is on decel (throttle it and then letting off) and it can be a lean or rich pop depending on the tune. Depending on how how you throttle it the initial inrush of throttle produces a pulse of exhaust which could sound like a "bark" and be louder than the on throttle tone but I don't see how you could be getting popping during acceleration.

It sounds like old school glasspacks under moderate to hard acceleration. I may have to try that resonator you have.
