This is my first Ram, but not my first truck... but I have a question. I'm averaging 12.9 mpg. Does that sound about right? I have a 2014 2wd 4 Dr sport. I've been nice to the pedal so far, except to a slow ford owner in front of me about an hour ago. Tires are filled to spec. Oil was changed before I bought it 3 weeks ago. Any tips or tricks? Feedback? Has anyone tried Best line oil additives? Thanks!

That's pretty close if you do a lot of city driving. Mine is 13.5. Is that a real calculation or just what the cluster says?

If you are primarily city driving then yes, about right. Oil additives wont help your fuel economy or anything really. Change your oil every 8k or so w/ full synthetic and a high quality filter (not a cheap fram!).

Tip or trick to getting better fuel mileage? Lighten up the foot. Other than that, not much you can do. You are driving a 5500 lb truck w/ 400hp. Not sure what people want for MPG.

For what its worth, I drive about 90% city, 10% highway and get about 11.5 w/ a level and 35" Trail Grapplers. Im also heavy footed. On the highway going to the mountains at 80mph Ill get about 15mpg. Coming back about 18-19mpg.

Well I figured 15 city would be OK as advertised but I should have known when dodge tests these rams for mpg, its downhill and in a down wind. Good to know. Not complaining, just thought it was at least in the 14 range. Thanks for the info!

These Threads make me wonder if there's something wrong with my truck?? I'm averaging 10 mpg with 33 inch mickey thompson Baja atz (between mud and all terrain.) I drive 90% city with a heavy foot. This is all hand calculated. I have 3.92 gears and the 5 speed.. Is this normal?

Yes... Heavy foot kills it.

Heavy tires kill it more than the heavy foot. Those baja atz weigh like 15lbs more s piece than the stockers. That might not sound like alot but when youre rim/tire setup weighs say 60lbs and it goes to 75lbs...thats a pretty big difference. Coupled with hemi foot renders you near single digits in the city lol.

To the OP is your truck a 6 speed or 8 speed? I'm at just under 17mpg tracked through fuelly as seen in my sig. Electronic mpg reads 18.5 to 19. Not bad at all if you ask me. I don't have many towing miles factored in there yet so that will bring it down.

No matter what you do, if you do a lot of city driving/short trips or live in a cold region your mpgs will suck. I do all of those (plus hemi foot). My trucks been averaging just over 9mpg this winter.

It's been under 20 all winter and I do all city usually when it's busy. But when I get an open road I have a pretty good foot. I knew it wouldn't be good when I got a truck but my grandpa got a 2015 yukon with the new ecotec 5.3 and he drives same as me except hes easy on the gas getting 14

since new last July 14 my truck is averaging just under 20mpg's but that would be a 90-10 split highway/city

What's an OP, and I only have 6 gears.

X2 I've been getting about 13mpg with my 8 speed 3.92's on 33" mts, all city in sub zero temps with the truck running for 5-10 mins before driving. If I do some hwy I see up to 19mpg.

This makes me feel better about averaging 10.5 or so mpg's this winter.

My 2013 CC 4X4 3.21 8speed is slightly worse this winter then last. Last fill up was under 12 mpg. It's still fun to drive [emoji41]
