Heyeguys. I hate how quiet my ram is. But I have no money right now to shell out. Is three anything wrong with taking off everything from the stock muffler back and just 90 degree angling it right in front of the pass tire there? Would it hurt mpg or power at all?
In the future I'm going to get headers and true duals but that won't be for about 8 months or so.
Thanks

Taking the resonator off wont do a whole lot, but your exhaust note may be more apparent in the cab than next to the truck with it dumped that far forward.
You may get some drone from the exhaust echoing under the bed. :hidesbehindsofa:

Cut the exhaust off after the muffler. Another free mod is to gut the cats, that'll free up a couple hp and give you a good bit more sound.

On both my trucks I cut the mufflers off and put straight pipe with 6inch tips

The tone of exhaust seems to mellow out the longer the pipe it flows through.
Open header race cars sound so angry because they have very little time for the sound waves to calm down / cross cancel. If you removed your factory muffler, and put a straight pipe, but left the resonator, you could have a pretty interesting sound.

When I picked up my truck, it had a flowmaster series 10 on it. The drone... That's all I can say about that. It took me 2 weeks to bring it to a muffler shop and have it cut out. They put in a flowmaster series 50 for me. Quieter than the 40 series, but still loud enough. It is a single in dual out, with the pipes exiting on either side of the tow hitch.

Be ready for drone if you don't have a muffler.

I have learned the hard way...If you can't do it right don't do it. More times than not you will save yourself $$$$.

From what I understand Flow's are still "restrictive" and won't net you much in gains but should sound better.

Man... I remember the way those old FM's used to sound on the late 80/early 90 Mustangs.... loved it. Still do.

I just installed a super 10 on mine. 3" in and 3" single out. I exits on the right behind the wheel and the drone isn't bad at all.

Flowmasters, aka Rustmasters, Blowmasters and Chokemasters are more restrictive than even the stock mufflers. That's why I always say to go with single or dual chambers or turbo style or Magnaflow.

Want cheap noise? Lop that water heater off and put a dump on it.
