M1 EP from what I've read has a good amount of PAO. It's a damn good oil.

Same here, I was a dedicated M1 guy before this truck.I was using M1 in all my vehicles since the early 80s. It was and is still a top shelf oil even though it is no longer a true synthetic. Used it for my second oil change in my 11 hemi. Could not believe how noisy my engine was. Ran it for 3 days and dumped it. Replaced with the original penzoil ultra and all was quite again. Since then, I am reluctant to use any M1 productos on the hemi.
ya got a few years on me , but we think alike sir!!Change my oil once a year (barely 2000 miles) and the tick goes away.......then comes back right around change time....nothing but synthetic in all the glory holes......I am 67 and you guys worry about lifters going tick tick tick. Well every Chrysler engine I have ever had from the slant six to the 5.7 go tick tick tick. They will still move houses, tractors and pull stumps, tick tick tick is its' heart beat!
Fully agree. One of the great benefits of this forum. Knowledge, facts and information. This is a really good write up, the time you put into gathering all this information and trying so many different kinds of oil is much appreciated from everyone. Something that stood out to me was that the PYB 5w20 helped a little with the ticking; I read on another forum that conventional oil can help with mechanical noise. The guy switched from synthetic oil to conventional oil and bumped up the oil weight. If my GMC ever starts to tick ill have to try Redline or maybe Pennzoil High mileage conventional. Anyone try a 30 weight conventional oil for the Hemi Tick?
.I never had the dreded hemi tic, I was chasing just general engine noise. I was a hard sell on redline but not anymore. IMO 5/30 redline is what the Dr ordered for the 5.7. I still use Amsoil in my other stuff but the hemi gets redline.

This ^^^^^^^ is the reason I'm here so much .Fully agree. One of the great benefits of this forum. Knowledge, facts and information.
Going to try the Red Line 5W30 in my 08 Charger.....if I can find any. My Big Horn hasn't even made it to the first oil change yet, so, I am not worried about it....LOL. My Charger almost has 100k on the clock. It has a slight noise to it on start up. Been running Amsoil 5W20 in it since I got it (13,800 miles) when I bought it.
Have to replace the O2 sensors too now.
I second Nick for Redline oil , Fantastic prices and fast shipping [emoji1303][emoji1303]Try nickgot exhaust. A vendor on the forum. Also practically your neighbor. Rockland county iirc. He supplies redline at what I am told the best price.
