We’ll see how long this one takes.
Considering this issue has popped up before back in 2019 it might take a while.
There was already a recall back in 2020 (see attached)

There was a FB post about this issue, said it mostly happened when towing or heavy loads not every day driving

From the NTSA site:
Some 2020-2022 Ram 3500 trucks equipped with the Cummins 6.7L Turbo Diesel engine and 68RFE transmission ("68RFE") may experience transmission fluid expelling from the dipstick tube, which may come into contact with an ignition source within the engine compartment.

It states only the 68FRE Tranny. This info must be screwy , cause mine is a 2500 and it still pulled up as as affected even though the info states 3500s?
My 3500 that I just traded in was affected according to the VIN and it had the 68rfe.

I'm speculating its the VB like the earlier '19 recall which has always been a weakpoint for the 68RFE. I'll probably do a TBV delete soon which I was waiting on until servicing it around 10k with the rest of the drive line along with a PPE flatbottom and their longer spin on that has the metal nipple. This recall has me rethinking of at-least doing the TBV now until we get more data on what the repair looks like. Depending on what it is I might just say f-it and pickup a revmax billet VB along with the PPE bits to just put it to bed. Never planned on tuning mine and I don't tow heavy things very often at all (once in a blue moon otherwise I'd have a 3500 HO/Aisin).

I feel bad for the guys looking to take delivery of their new 2500/3500 trucks; what stands out for me is the stop sale until they have a remedy.

No towing in the future for me so I’ll wait and see.

Yeah, I waited 10 months for the truck to get delivered to the dealer, now it's going to be another 2 or 3 months before I can even take ownership. :emotions122:

Because there is a hefty $21K fine from the Government if they sale or deliver a vehicle with an Active recall, read the bottom part of the attached page below from FCA...

I’d be spitting mad, but I suppose you won’t have to deal with recalls right out of the gate. Make sure they take care of the tailgate recall I just heard on the news about also. Comms to owners are coming out early Jan I heard for that one.

Took mine in at 8:00AM and they called to say it was done about 1:30. Mechanic said the first few he did took all day but now that he has been doing so many, he can knock them out in about 4hrs.
Glad to hear

I just opened my recall letter. Says it's a 30 minute job. LOL
I guess either the techs are milking it, or they are fixing the wrong thing, or Ram engineers can't estimate properly.

There's no way that job can be done In just 30 minutes, just no way. I'm impressed with 4-6 hour turn time. That 30 minutes is obviously a flub up from someone who didn't get the memo of the job at hand, lol.

I would hope they can swap out a dipstick and trans vent in 30 minutes.

Them must be some fast workers to change it in 30 minutes being it seems to take them 5-10 to just get the truck up on a lift :)
…and the time of all the dealership employees involved to answer your call, schedule your appointment, check in your truck when you get there, etc, etc.

At the end of the day, this is what every dealership gets reimbursed for to perform the recall, so I wouldn’t even bother with driving it over to the lift (to change a dipstick?):
