The 6.4 muffler is a little different, in the fact that it has a flapper in it.
But the 5.7 is, I would have to guess, just like every other chambered muffler.

We will await your pics after you cut it open :)

What does the flapper do?

Makes it very quiet :)

It may create a little bit of a restriction at low flow for maybe a bit of backpressure - but this is just guessing.

When a STOCK 6.4 hemi (3.5" diameter) muffler and tailpipe are installed on a 5.7 hemi (3" diameter), it is whisper quiet - almost stealthy lol

The 5th Gen 5.7s now have a weep holes in both resonators, makes aftermarket mufflers sound like there's a leak. I would absolutely weld it shut or remove the resonators all together.

Otherwise, pretty standard 40" chambered muffler tuned for MDS like the 4th Gens.

I didn't know that. That explains why my magna sounds strange at idle if you listen near the tailpipes.

No 5th gen's have the bumper twin tailpipe outlets any longer??

Muffler design is most likely still similar to the 4th gen. My 4th gen is single in and single out.

Someone asked about the flapper in the muffler of the 6.4. My E36 BMW has a flapper also. It is located in one of the muffler outlets. It operates on vacuum, and was placed there for a boost in low end torque. Sounds strange, but it works. I blocked mine open for a while. I had significantly reduced low end "pull". Once I re-connected it the car ran very nicely again. I suspect the 6.4 uses it for the same reason.

Depends on the model, some have a single tail pipe and some have the dual tail pipes. On pre 2019s the muffler was single in dual out, (excluding single tail pipe models) on 2019s dual tail pipes, it is single in, single out with Y pipe making it dual tail pipes.

And I for one thank them for changing it!
Makes it much easier swapping that huge pig out for something better...

Correction, I had to pinch and tack weld a total of 4 weep holes on each resonator for my FIL’s 5 Gen. It helped deepen the tone substantially.
