My 14 previous 3500 dually silverados were a far superior engineered severe duty trucks compared to this RAM P.O.S.

It goes back in the shop next week for more warrenty work...

That's suck man. When I got my GMC I had no idea how rugged and durable the L96 6.0 was, dident know anything about it. After reading reviews from fleet maintenance mechanics and fleet supervisors I was really happy with my purchase. Just read today that Fuso is putting them in all their 4 and 5 class medium duty trucks with an Allison transmission behind it.

I'm an old Chevy guy. Key words here are "old Chevy". Built, balanced and blur printed several SBC motors (327, 350 and 400 cubin.) Smeared Moly lube all over the cams to break them in and then put 20W-50 Castrol GTX in them. The new Chevy stuff drove me to buy Rams. No regrets at all. If your Silverados are so superior, why the Hell did you ned 14 of them? Hahah, they are junk for plowing snow, they rust, make less power than either of my 5.7 or 6.4 Hemis and they rattle your brains out. Hmmm...might be on to something here...Rat 's had his brains rattled out by 14 Silverados. Explains a bunch. Only thing it doesn't explain is why, if you had 14 Chevy Silverados do you picture a GMC for your avatar?

PS: In the heat of summer, I run straight 60 weight in my Harley to keep it from over heating...go figure, huh? Now ****!

BTW last month two uoa's that show Valvoline and Royal Purple now have moly. Even super tech last month had 102 ppm moly, so the number of oils that don't contain moly are very small. Things have changed real quick on this one, I'm sure all spurred on by the gf-6 specs.

If you can find the valvoline on the bottom of this page, looks like one of the best oils made with a hths of 3.5 and moly. This is new info, toss out old info on valvoline and royal purple and super tech.

Hello everyone. I haven't been able to make it all of the way through this thread, but I'm hoping I can get a PUP question answered. What is the preferred oil, PUP 5w30 straight or 5 qts of PUP 5w20 mixed with 2qts of PUP 0w40? It sounds like PUP 5w20 by itself is pretty thin and may not have enough moly. I'd be going with 5qts of 5w20 because of the pricing on Amazon. Thanks in advance.

You are right on target , the 0W-40 has much more Molybdenum and adds a thicker viscosity to the 20 wt PUP .

THE 0W-40 is a thin oil for a 40wt oil , so a 50/50 mix or 4qts 0W-40 and 3qts 5W-20 imo .
To my understanding the 5W-30 doesn't have much Molybdenum .

PUP is a great oil choice by the way [emoji106]

If you want to get your synthetic spun microglass filter and oil in the same place and have it the best price around, get redline 5w30 and Amsoil filters from nick. Do him a favor and buy a couple oil changes or more worth since he has to ship it. Get like 2 cases (12 qrts) plus 3 filters and that should last anyone a while. Nick is now officially the cheapest place to get redline, the one other guy that had it on sale for 6 mos on ebay dried up.

I agree nick@gotexhaust ,a vendor & member here on the forum is the best place to get Redline oil and Amsoil filters , I believe he can also get my favorite filters the RP10-48 & it's big brother the RP20-820 .
Nick has a bunch of great products other than oil so check him out here .

He can get RP filters as well? Cool, even better as the quality of those are better then the Amsoil EA's, but it is close.

Both filters are excellent. I don't think I'd say either is "better" than the other.

Royal Purple specs- 99% efficient @ 25 microns

Amsoil EAO specs- 98.7% efficient @ 20 microns

Yep both pretty evenly speced , can't go wrong with either imo .
I only prefer the RP filter because I've used them for a while with no issues ...no reason to change [emoji106][emoji106]

Kind of funny the two companies that are gimmicky with dodgy formulas both have the best filters bar none.
