not confusing at all, lol?

Dexos D and Dexos 2 are both engine oils from General Motors (GM) that are designed for different types of vehicles and have different features:

  • Dexos D
This low viscosity oil is formulated for light-duty diesel engines and is designed to excel in extreme temperatures. It also helps maintain power and fuel efficiency, and provides clean engine operation. Dexos D oils meet or exceed the performance of Dexos 2 oils and are backward compatible.

  • Dexos 2
This oil is designed for diesel and some petrol-driven vehicles, and is recommended for European light-duty diesel engines and gasoline engines. It's also designed to meet Low SAP requirements for vehicles with exhaust treatment devices like Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs). Dexos 2 oils are based on API Group III base oils and are SAE 5W-30 and 5W-40. They're also designed to reduce wear and keep the engine clean.
Dont forget dexos R lol

Hey all oil gurus... What engine oils are a true, full synthetic? Are there any? I'm assuming there are being that Ive heard that over in Europe, nobody's supposed to sell or market engine oil as a full synthetic unless it's absolutely full synthetic. And I'm assuming the Amsoil SS isnt even FS? What about that Redline y'all use?

I understood Amsoil SS is all PAO Group IV (sans ester oil needed to carry additives).

Red Line is a blend of PAO Group IV and POE Group V

HPL P+ and SC are all PAO Group IV (sans ester oil needed to carry additives).

OCI's are shorter again thanks to EPA mucking up engine designs, therefore running a pure synthetic base oil isn't worth it anymore. I use PUP which is a Group III+ GTL, poor man's Group IV base oil. Good enough. Oil Geek just tested to show it is better than Dexos 1 oil.

Mobil has mucked around so much I have no idea what they've done, nor will they say anything but "trust us". Remember, the court ruled "synthetic" includes catalytic cracked, hydrotreated crude oil, which is Group III. Before the court ruling, only PAO and PEO were synthetic.

So what group is full synthetic? But you use PUP now? Are you not using redline anymore?

But that's kind of sad about what you said about Mobil 1. The Mobil 1 extended performance was what I was planning on using in mine and my wife's new 2025 Honda pilot with that V6 in it. In my ram, I still plan to use that Schaeffers 9000 supreme being that since my boss opened up his own little parts shop thats open to the public and for our own trucks, he became a Schaeffers dealer so now I can get that stuff at a pretty good price and I don't have to order it.

Sorry I meant to say I use PUP in all other gasoline auto engines EXCEPT the Hemi, which is still getting Red Line 5W-30 summer 0W-30 winter.

Hemi is too much of a lubrication drama queen to cut corners to risk engine failure IMO. Some guys use PUP + Lubegard Moly additive and seem to do ok.
I may try HPL SC 0W-30 next year, idk. It looks interesting on paper, but the blend differs from Red Line, we know Red Line is a Hemi tick killer.
We don't know if HPL oil does too.

Well, all those people with black particulate deep in their lungs are likely happy about diesel soot cleanup.

It was mostly cleaned up with ultra high pressure injection and multiple injections.

I'd wager many more people have been affect by wildfire smoke.

I wonder why Clydesdale are so unpopular, only 4k or so in usa and only 5k in the world. Our family trip when I was a kid was going to sugar loaf park Sonoma, we passed a huge field with an entire herd of Clydesdale, I swear it was the highlight of my childhood back then. Just parking and watching those was as fun as anything we did as kids. Now the field is grapes but a couple fields over they have a much smaller herd, but we still have them. I know it costs more to feed them but not too bad imo, 300 per mo. I don't know much about them, but cant they pull more and better? Maybe not better for riding but has to be better at pulling stuff?

The saying amongst equine people is, "There's horses for courses", i.e. the right tool (breed) for the job. There just aren't a ton of people who have a real need for draft horses. Roping is the current craze, along with cutting, barrel racing, etc, and it seems quarter horses may be the most popular. I have a friend who mostly trail rides, or does guiding, and he much prefers Peruvians for the mild manners, and comfortable gait. I had friends who raised Arabians, but mostly for showing, and they seemed to be more moody/ill mannered.

Moly too low for me, no evidence of tick-killer. If'n we're all tryna keep our trucks to the end, it's a non-starter for me, regardless of price.

We don't know if Boron makes up for Moly, nor if lack of ester base stock (in addition to ester for additive solubility) can kill tick.
I've run it. Came highly recommended by @Travis8352.
Here is my truck on hot idle with it.

Dare I say, it sounded smoother than when it was running Redline.
