I ran this by Phoenix and they said go ahead and try it... So, I want to try this update again when I get home from work today. Other than taking pics of all the settings to fix after the update... Is there anything else I need to do?

If you can't export your settings, the only other thing is that you need to reset everything individually. Takes 5-10 minutes to complete.

My boot loop issue returned today, Carsoll was not impressed and sent a pretty pushy message to the developer. So in a few days I am expecting a newer version of the PX6 Firmware. The lead developer has 3 people working on the issue now, and says he knows what the problem is and should be able to correct it, but it will take a few days.

I'll update you when I get that copy flashed and see if it works

I installed the update tonight... Now, my climate controls don't work at all. Probably just a setting somewhere... I'll see tomorrow if it boots up normally or goes to the reverse screen. Good thing I have other cars to drive tomorrow...with climate control! And, my 30 day return warranty is up on Wednesday. So, if it does boot up normally tomorrow, I still need to ask Phoenix to extend my return timeframe for another week....to see if I can get everything squared away. If they won't do it...I need a return label by Wednesday.

Thanks!!!!!!!! That was one of the settings I didn't know what to do with. I think I might have left it on "default"

Is there any consensus on whether the px6 is a worthwhile upgrade on the px3?

Or still too buggy?

My px3 has been rock solid, just the auto lights issue and 24h time in the cluster.....

My opinion is:

I love it. It has quirks. But so do PX3 units.
The software is relatively new, so upgrades and bug squashing is happening quite frequently. Just think what initial PX3 units were like. The PX6 units are super quick and able to handle alot of apps and functions operating simultaneously, without lag/freeze/crash issues (at least in my case).
Would I upgrade from a PX3 to a PX6?
I couldn't honestly answer that, having never used a PX3 as a basis of compassion. All I can tell you is the PX6 is a great unit and will only get more stable over time (so long as your support reps are as great as mine)

Started the truck today and the issue of going to the reverse screen is still there. Unfortunately, the update installed as px6_format.zip didn't fix it. Time to get a return label from Phoenix... Not sure what I'm going to do next. I was thinking about maybe trying an older version from Linkswell. At least it doesn't ship directly from China and it will have wiring in place to connect an external mic.

Can anyone here chime in on their experience buying a Linkswell unit? I started looking into it.... units are available on Amazon with quick shipping. It looks like a local dealer is about 45 miles from me, but I haven't contacted them yet. Just wondering how others purchased their Linkswell radio....and what experience they had with it. Thanks!

I'd try Carsoll because they are cheaper but as far as I know Linkswell's service is top notch.

I have the suspicion that Linkswell and Carsoll are related somehow (no proof, just a hunch).

I took a look at Carsoll's website again...and it looks like they only have the PX6 for Ram trucks. After trying two of those...both which had boot up problems, I think if I try another one it will be an older Android version.

Make sure to "forget" the pairing on your phone then re-pair them to the radio.

Looked into Linkswell…. here's what I'm finding out. The Amazon units are only gen 1 units for $850...not the same as Linkswell sells through their distributors. Reading some Amazon reviews, people claimed that the customer service isn't the same if it was purchased on Amazon. So, I talked to the closest Linkswell retailer in NJ about buying it through them. Nice guy....but was basically clueless. He said they installed one a few years ago. He had no idea on the specs of the unit...couldn't even give a price. He said it would be between $1100 and 1400 and there was no warranty on the unit unless they install it. Their install price would be another $100... sounds like it's normally more, but he knows I've installed two of these and that they're plug and play.

That's totally insane....couldn't even imagine spending $1500 on one of these.

I looked at Rhino again tonight. I can get a one button, 7.1 unit with Android Auto (I assume a dongle) delivered for $508. Not sure what to do yet....but considering this.

I've looked at the BBB ratings on Phoenix.... Just what you would expect. Dozens of complaints… Phoenix response to some of them... "We didn't get your email, it went to spam"...
