Will that's even more ridiculous then. As an OEM they should be consistent in their handling of this matter, acting in good faith to us (their customers) . If they do that for one, they should be offering it for all of us as an option.

Good info, thank you.

Makes me question whether to even keep my Ram.If FCA cant build a truck without the tailgates falling off or the drag links and lifter issues. It's not like they haven't been building vehicles for almost a hundred years, and they just get worse at it? The fact that all makers have issues just shows how sorry they all are at their craft. And they choose to be apparently

Are you guys asking to be reimbursed for installation costs? If you are, that may be the difference. I only asked for reimbursement for the cost of the part. I don't know...just spitballing. But I agree they should do the same for everyone

Unfortunately that is true. Sad to say, but if these were Honda's or Toyota's we'd all have new drag links and all this would be a distant memory. They really bend over backward in my experience to take care of their customers.

I prefer to buy American, but crap like this really makes me question that

I got reimbursed a year or so ago for parts, tax, labor and even an alignment (which surprised me).

Lol....maybe that's why they were so quick to give me the reimbursement.

Oh well...it's a free part and my mechanic is doing for nothing since he's gonna be under there doing the track bar and level kit anyway

Sure glad to see some members getting reimbursed for a manufacturing defect that they should not have had to handle themselves. Horrible inconsistent Corporate economic decision. Thousands of customer at risk. CEO and the person he put in charge of correcting this should both be terminated for cause and with prejudice. How do we all feel about the brand right now. Fact is, the only way FCA will ever address this properly, is when NHTSA gives them notice. Gents, the new on line complaint form is now easy to access, fill out and send. Respectfully, we must do more than agree with the problem and then pay for their ignorance.

I had the same experience with multiple dealers. I bought the synergy drag link and asked every local dealer if they would replace it for me. They were completely unwilling. I have sent my reimbursement request in to FCA asking for only the cost of the part. We'll see what happens. There is a question in the form asking for the mechanic or establishment that performed the swap. I just put "self". I have a feeling I'm gonna get hosed. It's a BS problem and a BS fix

Pointman....I did the exact same thing as you. Did not want any welding done especially since many tech's do NOT disconnect the batteries which if you don't do can cause electrical issues when welding. In any event I had a 2 inch lift on the truck anyway. So I bought the Synergy drag link and installed it myself and had an alignment done. I too submitted a bill for just the part cost. That was about 7 months ago. Heard back NADA. But that was expected by me since I read there was a cutoff date from which FCA refused to accept/reimburse claims submitted for work not performed by the dealer. I do not recall the exact date but when I filled I do remember it was about 1-2 months past the deadline but submitted anyway thinking maybe I may get lucky....yeah right.

Ironically if you look at the drag link now used on the current HD's its almost identical to the Synergy drag link.

No BS....I submitted my request for reimbursement about 10 days ago. Received an email asking for my invoice. Got an email no more than 5 minutes after I submitted my invoice saying it had been approved and that a check was in the mail.

I don't know. I don't think I did anything different than anyone else. I think it's just luck of the draw. While I'm happy I got what I got....it's still not the correct way for FCA to handle it.

Just so y'all don't think I'm making it up, here is a copy of the email. It was actually 4 days ago that I submitted my request. Wish y'all the best of luck

I'll keep checking under my truck until they have the actual replacement parts to do the job right.

OK, I just went and looked at that Synenergy draglink assy, and the only concern I have is fine tuning the adjustability. what I mean by that is, if you need a half a turn to center your steering wheel you cant do it because of the way the draglink tube is bent, if you attempt to do a half turn of the of the draglink you will put the rod ends into such a bind not to mention at half a turn the tube will smash into what ever is above it, no good. it is either a full turn or nothing, same goes for the rod ends. you cant do half turns and expect things to bolt in from the other direction, the truck and parts are not designed to do that. so for that reason I will be replacing the adjuster sleeve with one from Moog ($130) and I will have the fine tuning that FCA designed into the draglink, IE I can make 1/8 turn on up to full turns.

I am retracting my concern about the Synenergy draglink, I was just shown a better picture and now see the adjusting sleeve between the tube and rod end that I did not see in previous pic's that i looked at earlier. But still going the MOOG route.

I'm here to tell y'all...the synergy drag link makes a very noticeable difference in steering feel. Had mine installed today and it feels so much tighter and responsive

It's just new tight joints (like a new truck would feel). Unless your old drag link was actually loose it's kind of a placebo effect. Give it a few thousand miles and it will wear in and feel the same as the old one.

Certainly could be. But given that the synergy is much less flexible, it is also possible that it's actually stiifer an translates to tighter or more responsive steering. Especially when you add in the factor of much larger and heavier wheel/tire combination

I only have 10,000 miles ony truck and I can honestly tell a difference
