I plan on having a local independent shop install the drag link and do an alignment, but they are closed today because of the holiday. I need to check if they will install a customer supplied part before I go ahead and buy it.

I just talked to the Dealer, who said the only fix is welding the nuts, and FMc 800 number, who said the only fix is welding. I'm considering buying the updated part and having an independent shop install it and do an alignment. Screw this!

Yep, good idea.

Here is my opinion on the whole ordeal... the ******** weld fix is obviously a safe repair or it wouldn't be getting done that way. If someone dosnt like their fix, as I dont, then simply take matters into your own hands and fix it yourself. Its under a few hundred bucks to do it the proper way.

Is it a crock of ****? Well hell yes it is. But lets just get over it already.

Yepper. I did the repair myself and I can align the steering wheel without grinding off the nuts and all alignment shops have open doors for me. I’ll pass though on Ram Dealerships on this issue. And I know I did it right. Warm fuzzies.

I would did mine and my steering is tighter and I have zero worries. Same part on the 19s and above so they changed it for a reason. You wont regret it and if you do it all yourself you really dont need an alignment. All the drag link does is center the wheel. I marked my pitman arm put the new one on lined it up and didn't even need to readjust it. I can show you were to mark it if you need me to? Honestly if you lived by me I would do it for you.

So this may help people further from what I have learned on here and today. I ordered my part and was assured I could get mine like the other members have. I ordered mine from a dealer online and not the place in this screenshot I will add. Not saying you cant get it from this place the part number is correct. So you will notice in the diagram that it still has the old style with the adjuster sleeve, two nuts but yet the part number is new. Now the bottom it replaces two old part numbers the one highlighted is what is currently on my truck. Next you will see what Maligator posted of his part with the the correct number clamp style. Mopar must not have updated the pics but the part is correct with my vin 2018. Some dealers are saying its impossible to get this unless it goes through a dealer and a STAR claim. Must be the solution to the problem. I say order it obviously members have gotten the FIX TO V06 in the mail.

Wow great information, I'm currently having my local private shop looking into getting this part for me and doing the install. Is there anything else they should know, I read a previous post metioning that nuts need to be ordered too (part #?). I'm preparing to take the wagon on a 1200 mile round trip next week and hoping to have it done by then.

Ordered the nuts from Amazon: 6505623AA. WheelerFleet has 2 of the drag links in stock for around $98.00 and some change.

Yeah I wouldn't wait around on ordering that drag link if you want it. One place when I ordered mine said there was one warehouse with a bunch. Also I am going through the reumbursement process at the moment so I will let you all know if I here anything back which could be awhile.

Unbeknownst to me, the V06 'repair' was completed on my 2018 prior to me taking ownership of it NEW from the dealer. I had no idea the recall was in place nor that the 'repair' was already done on my truck. Upon finding out on here, I looked underneath and saw that it had been welded. I went ahead and purchased the updated 2019 drag link assy and installed it myself.

FYI - I also submitted a reimbursement claim with FCA for the cost of the updated link and (2) nuts and I just received an email that my claim was denied. They feel the weld is sufficient and they are off the hook. I guess I'll just have to wait for the final findings of the NHTSA investigation at this point.

"Thank you for allowing RAM Customer Care an opportunity to address your concern. Our primary focus is your satisfaction.

Upon thorough review and consideration, we regret to inform you that your request for reimbursement has been denied due to to the recall was already completed and inspected by FCA dealership before you bought a part and installed by yourself.

As much as quality service is our concern, please be informed that there are certain guidelines and qualifications that we need to meet in order to grant your request.

Thank you for your utmost understanding. We look forward to your continued business with us, and we appreciate you reaching out to us today."

This clearly shows how concerned they are about my 'satisfaction'. 'Continued business'? That's funny too. At least I won't have to deal with their crappy welds during an alignment in the future.

^^^^^^Agree. Rotten, to hell with the customer, screw safety until we are forced to address, Ford and GM do the same thing. These smelly Walmart Ram customers are as Don Lemon pointed out, rubs that buy our trucks because they are too stupid to know better.
Hard to understand why this company would turn an opportunity into horrible rancid Brand ****.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Great I am sure my reimbursement will be denied also. But then again I am glad it's done and i got the new one on.

I just got my new '19 style draglink today and will be submitting a claim and see what happens, I never got the recall done, so it won't hurt to try

Yeah me to. I had a really hard time getting it to submit online. I actually had to submit it under one of the million other completed recalls on this truck. I just wrote in the bottom section when submitting that it was for the V06 recall.

Maybe a class action lawsuit is in order. No friggin way can you say my truck is fixed when you welded a part that is supposed to adjustable for alignment purposes.

If my door latch fails under warranty will they weld my door shut and tell me to change my name to Bo Duke?

I've purchased 7 new trucks from Dodge/Ram over the past 22 years and 1 brand new Challenger. I'm not sure if I'll buy truck number 8 when the time comes. I'm hoping the new Toyota Tundra is a giant leap forward from the current model because I surely will be looking at it. At least they'll replace a whole frame if needed.
