I don't have LED...yet! I have been looking for a set of Black OEM quads or Projector for the right price. Every Time I find a set, I'm too late.

I also saw a few posts were people talk about, but never really say it it works. If nobody does it by the time I get my, I'll try it.

https://www.ramforum.com/threads/alfaobd.123982/page-182#post-1856256

Used in signals and parking lights but I think it would work for headlights too. They were able to remove resistors and such from the LED setup after changing the appropriate setting in AlfaOBD.

I was interested in doing the same but overall I wonder what it would give me, other than the "cool factor" of having LED bulbs in turn and park lamps.

I have done this and got the tire size to change to the size I wanted and then got the ABS warning. Went in and tried to do the ABS initialize, but all the options to do the procedure are grayed out and will not let me initialize.

Are you connected to the abs module? I'll have to check when I get home. It may have been the ABS ate/Continental "control unit" (not positive, my not have been, safer if you can get past the greyed out part) on the first page of drop downs. I know I had messed around with a few different drop downs from that abs section before actually making it into the active diagnostics. Shoot me a PM if I don't get back to you, I don't get on here as much as I would like. Post #2004 sounds right but like I said I did jump around a good bit to recall off the top of my head.

Have you been able to do this method successfully? I have not seen anyone that has yet.

.

Yes, 100%. A few times to get the speedo spot on. I know because as soon as I changed it, my dash lit up like a Christmas tree and I loss 4wd. I instantly thought well this will be fun to get back, I should've known better, instantly remembering someone elses post on here stating the same exact thing happened. But just the quick 15 second abs procedure with the 3ish steps and all is well.

What is the "ABS Procedure"? Is that documented somewhere on here. I don't remember seeing it anywhere but then again this thread is getting pretty big.

No doubt great info and trial and error but sometimes alot to remember or try and find again.

Mine was:

ram 2500>abs>abs chrysler/lancia/jeep/RAM ESP

ABS Initialization, Longitudinal Acceleration sensor, clear stored DTS, cycle igniton, Run Clearing rolls information

(All within the same drop down menu)

Under the "ABS Initialization" it has noted exactly what to do.

Is it a 2013 cluster - I think there were some limitations with that year's cluster.

If not, then look for the Special Packages entry - there will be several most likely, when I changed mine from Big Horn I just looked for the one that had Big Horn set and changed it. The others will likely say "not defined" and I didn't change any of those.

@Alexx Make sure you're setting both locations called "special packages". Make sure they both say the same thing. If choosing Limited, make sure both are set to Limited. There are quite a few in there that will not work. Also make sure you're letting the truck sleep with the key out of the ignition and preferably for at least 5 minutes.

While it doesn't take that long for some codes to set, it does for others or even much longer.

Glad this worked. Lol. It is one of the things I need to fix when I get the MX OBD.

Yes I was in the ABS module. Once in that I had 4 options and all of them stayed grayed out. I have emailed a requested data log into the developer of the app. I am waiting on his response.

I think I remember someone saying they messed around with this but I can't recall who and a search didn't pull anything up for me. Hopefully they will step in to help.

First things first, read as much as you can. The OP is definitely a good place to start and also check out my sig for the Alfa link to the Google Drive folder with more info there.

Make a Google Drive account if you don't have one already. Not only will enable someone to help you if you run into trouble but it is a great way for you to keep up with all of your changes. When you make your first connection to your truck, make sure you have logging turned on in settings of the AlfaOBD app. After you have connected to your BCM, (if using Android) go to the little battery icon at the bottom of the app and click on it. Then at the top click on "Read System ID". It will populate in the box below your current config. After that follow the information on uploading your config to your Google Drive account.

Good luck and make changes slowly. Don't do them all at once. Give the truck time to sleep and make the changes. Test your changes out to ensure there are no problems before proceeding. Oh and take plenty of notes.

I messed with every LED and can bus light setting I could find and none of them worked for me. To get rid of my reverse light error I just turned off all can bus monitoring of the tail lights. So I guess that worked but is not ideal.

I am in the same boat as a couple others now. I am going to remove my resistors upfront this weekend and try the LED settings again. I am not holding my breath though. Nothing has stopped my park light error yet including resistors.

I've heard of a lot of people with reverse lights throwing light out messages on the EVIC. I've been using these since March and never had one.

Couldn't find one for the license plate though. Tried a few that said they were canbus compatible but nothing worked. So I just changed mine to the LED setting and it went away. It also doesn't tell me when they're out either though.

What is really odd is that with my base cluster I didn't have any can bus light issues. This all started when I swapped my premium cluster in. So something in these clusters is different.

Yes the premium clusters will show more DTC's than the base clusters. I thought the factory projector headlights I installed in my truck were fine until I installed the premium clusters and I had messages everywhere. I was able to install resistors and it's been fine ever since.
