My other concern is when I occasionally put weight in the back. Will I be nose high or is there something I can install in the rear
Reason I also picked up a set of TufTruck 1211 springs.
FIgured since I was going to be back there, messing around installing rear bilsteins, may as well do it all, at one time and be done with it.
I tow a 20ft Lund Pro-V, all spring and summer.
If only occasionally loading the truck, lots of guys have loved their air lift 1000's.
Enough to get me to thinking about them, with the new springs, and I have never liked air anything suspension parts.
Another option, if you do decide to go with teh 2.8 setting, some say the level is too level adn with the shape of teh hood, the truck tends to look nose high. Of cours,e everyoen sees everything differently. An option, if this is the case, for you, at 2.8 , is to pick up a set of top gunz customs poly spacers, fro teh rear. All my research leads me to belive that a 3/4 inch or 1onch spacer, on stock rear springs will not affect anything on teh truck, the stock rear shocks can accomidate the spacer wel. However, the rear bilsein 5100 series shock does have an extra inch of piston travel vs stock. so if you should replace your rear shocks with bilsteins, and add a one inche spacer, perfect match.
That and you wold gain back an inch of rake, at 2.8 setting.
NOTE: 214+ Ram 1500 have been known to occasionally have an Upper COntrol ARm issue with bilsteisn set at 2.8. WHy? WHo knows. Not alot of gusy but enough to make me leary. I will be using 2.1 setting when I install my own bills and, even then will also be adding mevotech UCA;s.
Same reasoning as for teh tuftruck springs. I am going to messing with the front end, anywa, why not spend another $100 and update teh factory UCA. RAM cheapen them up on us, for 2014+ so may as well fix that junk while I am installing the Bills.
NOTE: If you do go with a spacer, there are bascially two kinds, (My Understanding and Lord knows, I coudl be wrong) Steel and Poly. IF using steel, you msut retain the plastic on top fo your current spring, to prevent squeaks. Reason if I do go with spacers, I will be using poly to begin with.
My current yhinking is, Remove my ARE topper, then instal rear springs and bilsteins. Drop the truck and see how the rake looks and how she handles. Put my ARE topper back on and see how much she drops. Then decide, for sure, which front level setting I want to go with. (Reason for new UCA's, if I want to go with 2.8 setting, I can.) Install front billsteins adn new UCA;s then see how everything sits.
Hook up the boat, adn see how the new sprngs drop with that weight. If needed, pick up a set of spacers for the rear.
Hope this ehlps
I will try to take pics, of all of it, as I do it.
Biggest thing is I must be able to get teh truck , when done with it, inside a 7ft garage door.
