Yea, a couple years ago I figured out that most of the little plastic fasteners used all over out trucks are pretty generic and fit tons of other brands of car.

Thant being the case, they can be bought on Amazon for super cheap. I keep lots of different ones on-hand. the 1/4" christmas tree style that secure the upper radiator cover are super common and used everywhere. They're good to have on-hand too:

I actually ran out a few weeks ago and had to order more. I replaced the windshield washer spray nozzles and had to take down the insulated hood liner. It uses quite a few of them.

When I replaced my water pump, the lower radiator shroud cove took 6, i think.
I didn't order the christmas tree ones yet, I did bugger up a couple on the top radiator cover, but they were still good enough to work halfway decent.

I didnt pull my whole lower shroud, only pulled it loose from the fan shroud. I knew just by how it felt I would ruin those if I tried to separate it, so I left it alone.

I shared the grille clip link with another member who already ordered some, theirs have been broken for years, they said.

The plastic stuff gets really britttle.

I am trying to find the Ram part numbers for the coolant hoses all I can find so far is the upper and lower rad hoses and the 3 way valve itself. I want to get that stuff ordered up before its no longer available.

Is it the heater core hoses your looking for?

I found them for my 2013, i wonder if they are different for a 2015

Availability will probably be good for awhile. It shows to be the same part for all the trucks up to 2020, and probably the "Ram Classics" as well.

I've also seen "Gates" branded aftermarket molded hoses from O'Reilly Auto Parts as well.

Those are for the RFE 5/6 speed trucks, the 8 speed heater hoses are differant,as they route coolant to the thermal management unit on the side of the 8 speed to pre-heat the transmission fluid. When i deleted the TMU off my 8 speed,i went back to the simpler heater hose routing, but left the 3 way valve plugged in.
If you're bored tonight Ken,here's some reading on how Khris/CrazyKid and i deleted the thermal management unit. Only the 1500's preheat the 8 speeds fluid, the HD trucks and cars don't preheat the transmission fluid. The heavy duty trucks also use a lower temp transmission thermostat then the 1500's do,the HDs usually run between 160F and 168f when towing and right around 160F if they're running down the road unloaded

About those plastic clips ....
In my town, there are at least 2 larger NAPA Stores
One of those has quite an assortment of those clips
most of them were bagged & marked Chrysler , GM , Ford, etc.
Some bags had 4 clips others has 10 or 12,
it has been at least 8 years since i had my 2009 Dodge Ram, i bought a bag of them for the Sight Shield, the cover that hides the top of the radiator, etc.

Since the block is iron, has anyone given thought that it might be iron oxide?

Wasn't it the 6.4 from Mexico that had most of the Problems with cast sand because of their poor substandard methods of charging the cooling systems.
I think all 6.4's and 5.7's come from Mexico.I hadn't heard that one before, but it might have something to do with the cooling system issues

I'm hoping all the water will evaporate from mine, so I can get a better look at it. I was still wet last tuesday, not sure if it will be dried out yet.

The only two engines I've heard of that have reported to have residual casting sand issues were the early 3.6 Pentastar and some Ford's 6.0s.

I came here last week to read up on doing the coolant flush and came across the posts about the RMI 25.... Yep it works, only a couple hundred miles... Lots of sludge in the overflow as well.

Well, I finally checked the container that I had some of the 'sand' in it. The coolant finally dried up, and it looked like a dry riverbed.

I broke it up with my fingers, here is the result. Looks like sand to me.

Damn that's enough to start building a sand castle with, lol. And we wonder why Chryco products have issues with cooling systems and heater cores
