Was checking things over, found a scratch on my front cam bearing, all I can do is polish it up with some 800 grit paper.

Not sure if it came during cam removal or from a bit of metal, or both, it is what it is. Ed luck......lol

Might have another issue.

Reinstalling the valves and new springs, noticed #4 intake has a chip out of the end of the stem.

They were never dropped or abused.

It also seems shorter than the others.

Thinking I should replace it. Thoughts?

Edited: #4 intake valve, not #6

I laid a straightedge over those intake valve stems, and that one is shorter by about .040.

Here's side by side with another intake valve.

That stem is worn, rocker looks okay.

Looks like a new intake valve is in my future.

See what I mean about Ed luck?

yea,

Not sure i'd reuse that rocker either. Unless, the pic just makes it look alot worse than it is. It would suck to have that rocker ruin the new valve and result in another "Hemi Tick", in an otherwise new engine.

I think the rocker looks ok, I will look it over better tomorrow. I don't believe it is below the surface where the valve stem is contacted.

Took a closer look at that rocker, the pic makes it look worse than it is. I can feel a teeny-tiny catch with my nail right where the arrow points. I didn't have my phone to take a better pic.

Will update the pic tomorrow.

Did that valve slide out of the guide okay Ed? I'd be a little worried about the guide if you had to hammer it out,but if it slid out easy, then the guide will be okay.

Yeah, it slid out ok, I didnt notice the damage on it until I reinstalled it. It had a burr on the edge, but I dont think it damaged the new stem seal. I didn't just shove them through, I turned the valve left and right as the top of the stem was going through the seal.

Also forgot to use assembly lube on the stems, I did use oil. Once the heads are on, I will give all the springs a shot of oil.

Valves are back in both heads except that bad one and one on the other head, incase I want to take some measurements.

I ordered a valve from RockAuto, they listed an AA suffix instead of AC, hoping its just a mfr change to the part.

My intake valve and 192° thermostat were supposed to arrive today, but DHL tracking says they are on hold in Miami.

Wtf?????

Hopefully, tomorrow. I am shooting for getting her reassembled over this long holiday weekend, but Ed luck keeps on happening......lol.

The valve is here and it's an AC suffix, wasn't sure because it came up as an AA suffix when I ordered it.

Shouldn't matter but check dimensions against the old one. Should just be the latest iteration of the same part.

WIll do. I think its gonna be ok.

Old one is definately shorter due to the end being so worn down.

The new oil control valve is a little different than the original, no springs over the screens. Same part # on body, 53022338AB:20250830_145123.jpg

Went to use my inch-lb torque wrench, and discovered it no longer works. Life gets better and better....lol.

Looks good!!!
