Amazon is expected to be laying off 30K workers today …over predicted tariffs will affect inventory to the point that prices will rise and sales will fall. I ordered pliers for family Xmas gifts.

They are building a giant warehouse near me.

Amazon never does anything unless it's expected to save them money. They will shut down one place and open up three different ones if they think it will save 5 cents per package, especially if the labor force is weak in the closing area.

Speaking of Amazon, watch this video about someone that decided to use Amazon no-name parts on their vehicle.....

It is absolutely funny we even have an Amazon, and personally I love them, it is very hard to run country property without an Amazon. I cant even get 1/2 the stuff I need locally, it's so bad I don't even look, Amazon first don't even have to spend 10 bucks going to town, lol. It would be so easy to replace this thing though, simply have a payment center and listing center for dealers direct. Instead of buying your cheese its on Amazon, you could buy it from cheese it direct, and instead of them taking a suckers share and delivering it to Amazon, they can go directly to your door. Amazon would disappear in a day, no warehouse, no delivery system, just warm up the post office to the idea they will be number one again. Shhhh, don't tell anyone, I need my Amazon.

What % of your build came from the Amazon Ed/?

For my repair, the only things I got from Amazon were things like gasket maker, blue loctite, etc.

I did have to buy an 1/4" drive in-lb and a 3/8" drive ft-lb torque wrench and a couple miscellaneous tools like the hose clamp pliers I got today.

My RedLine 5w-30 and Mopar OAT coolant concentrate came from Bezos, too.

All my repair parts came from RockAuto or AllMoparParts.com.

I wish I'd bought stock in Amazon when they were just selling books......lol

That Distribution facility is being buit as you read this. I'll try to take some pics when I go by there on my way home from work.

I'm actually thinking about applying there, they will need people to take care of the picking machinery.

Plus, it's halfway between my house and where I work.

Edit: I went home a different way, pictures tomorrow.

Here is what I saw today about Amazon

Amazon laying off about 14,000 corporate workers as it invests more in AI

The layoffs are expected to ultimately be the largest corporate job cuts in Amazon’s history, CNBC previously reported. The cuts could affect as many as 30,000 employees, according to Reuters, which cited sources familiar with the matter.

Anyone have any links to the various wiring harness clips and ties that dress up the wiring around the engine?

I broke several and some are just ragged out from removing them.

Amazon has a Public-Relations team. They can re-direct the public attention to AI if they wish to take public attention Away from the fact that Billionaire Bezos stood with all those other billionaires to have their picture took behind you-know-who that wants us to believe that consumers aren’t the ones who pay tariffs.

What makes me shake my head is…. Why the Original Mail-Order Catalog Store…Sears and Roebuck…. didn’t see this coming. Sears went belly-up because they totally missed-the-boat when Internet and Email elbowed-out the Post Office.

@Burla : The reason a mfr’r-direct doesn’t exist is the “delivery” and “return” service that “Prime” provides.

It is amazing that shipping costs are So Cheap ….yet is also the reason mfr’s cannot compete on a level playing-field with a Re-distributor like Amazon.

UPS is doing a booming-business…. on RETURNS.

@ Burla : And I agree with you completely…. re: running a household or business in a rural area… It makes no sense for me to waste half a day driving to town to shop for items….wondering which product is the best for my purpose…when I can sit in the recliner with a cup of coffee and peruse the many Reviews, Make a Choice, and get the item the Next Day…. all without leaving the house.

Now,…if I could only hand a “return” directly to the Amazon Delivery Guy/Gal. (out here in the country, I have an outside ‘fridge full of water, cokes, drinks for delivery-people. I really REALLY appreciate them!)

Regarding deleting the TMU, does anyone know the size of the holes befor tapping for the 5/16-18 set screw?

Was thinking about tapping it for a 1/16 NPT pipe plug. That way, no JB Weld needed, just thread sealant.

Just run a 5/16's tap into the holes Ed as i don't remember drilling it,just tapping it. You could use thread sealant i only used JB Weld as i knew i'd never be sticking the TMU back on the transmission

I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about, but it sounds a little bit like your tapping threads into the transmission case? Or maybe into the TMU itself?

If so, unless there is alot of material around the hole to support it, I'd avoid a NPT thread/fitting. Take Rick's advice and just go with standard 5/16-18 threads.

NPT threads accept tapered plugs/fittings. The taper seals good, but the taper puts quite a bit of radial force on the threaded hole. In cast aluminum without alot of material around the hole, a NPT fitting stands a good risk of cracking the case.

In something that sees alot of heat cycling, i'd be reluctant to risk it.
If your luck is anything like mine, and I have **** luck, and it would probably last just long enough to get you out into the middle of the desert in Utah or New Mexico, while towing a trailer and with a woman and 2 dogs in the car before it lets go:

I looked up this mod on youtube, and those look particularly susceptible, due to the thin wall around that hole. I wouldn't if i was you. It looks like the effective wall thickness from the root of the NPT thread to the OD of the **** would be pretty thin.

The 1/16 NPT (1/16-27) is very close in size to a 5/16-18, and the tapered thread would be a plus, IMO.

5/16-18 uses a .257 tap drill, 1/16 uses a "C" drill (.242) I've used a 1/4" bit before with aluminum. I have both taps and 1/16 plugs too, I just wasn't sure what the size of the hole started out at.

I'm talking about the 2 holes with the green o-rings in the photo. Those are the ones I'm supposed to tap, right?

Or am I talking about just deleting the heat exchanger?

Those are holes you want to tap,you could just as easily tap them for a NPT plug if you feel more comfortable using a pipe plug Ed. It's your call,i just used a 5/16's set screw as i have a bunch of them in various sizes,i also have a bunch of NPT plugs to,i never even really thought about using a pipe plug though,as when i was grabbing taps to thread the holes and found a 5/16's tap was just about the perfect size,i quit looking for other plugs, lol
