I just got back from the alignment shop.

All was good, within spec!

The general rule seems to be that after the Bilstein install, it should have need some adjustment. I guess I'm my case, it didn't.

Funny you say that , most say the alingment is a must , I agree it's a good idea , but like you after I installed my bills my truck drove just fine ...I had to wait a week for the alingment and the tech told me I would've been fine and he made slight adjustments only .
Strange thing is some say the alingment shop has trouble getting within spec after just the bils install ??

Just curious guys if there is always a symptom when the small washer on the 5100 piston is placed incorrectly on top instead of underneath the lid of the
strut. In other words, how could you possibly know for sure without having to take the whole front end apart again, if you or somebody else did it right??

I'm not sure of the nut is smaller than the washer, or same size. Only visual way I could think of to tell is look for the washer. If not, you'd have to disassemble it.

Not sure about sound, but you can take a small mirror and try and angle it to see if the washer is visible from the top. The washer is used below because the shaft diameter of the Bilstein strut is a smaller diameter than the shaft on the stock strut. The washer prevents the Bilstein strut shaft from eventually breaching that hole. There have been a few members that have had to find a replacement top hat mount due to this.

work for peace of mind after the job was done, your **** outta luck until something bad happens....:(

yes we have had some horror stories here about bad installs

There's only two ways to ensure the washer is installed correctly ... Imo ..

1) Do the Bilstine install yourself

2) be there when someone is doing it for you .

I'm at about 2000 miles since installing my bilsteins, set at 2.1

Zero issues, UCAs are fine, and the ride quality is better than new. I highly recommend this upgrade
