Mine is ticking like a ***** on my 2012, But I only have 100Km on it so Ill do the MDS delete , Cam , Tune ,Melling oil pump, Water pump, Timing set, Valve springs , push rods New Mopar lifters , The new MOPAR lifter #s are all the same on the non MDS. A few cases of beer as well...lol...

I used nothing but redline and now Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. But up here at -40 I have to let the ***** idle a lot during the winter... lol

I only had 103,000 mi on mine too. but after factoring in all the variables the best bet for me was just dropping in that Jasper engine.
6,000 mi on it now. so far so good!

That's true, since none Mds lifters fail also. Some say the components known to fail have been upgraded beginning in 2016. Only time will tell.
My 17’ is at the dealership getting a new long block as we speak from eating the cam. 66k miles, used free oil changes up until 20k miles and recdline since. Anybody want to buy a 4x4 Laramie with a new engine?!?!

Thanks but luckily i purchased the extended warranty. I’m just done with the 5.7, it’s astonishing that this is a known problem and fca just keeps producing the ****. I have been debating getting either a rebel TRX or a Cummins this year and don’t know if i can even buy another ram.

Big daddy's house, I'm just about to the pull the trigger on a reman from power train. Was leaning towards Jasper, but the deciding factor was the extended warranty. Both pricing was similar and I honestly couldn't find many reviews on either as I've searched for hours. I'm happy it's working out for you. Wish me luck.

Thank you I definitely appreciate it!

Question, for break in oil what did you use? Powertrain's only recommend was use conventional 5-20 for 500 miles before switching to synthetic. I was looking at royal purple break in oil but it only comes in 5-30. Any thoughts?

I actually started another thread about just exactly this. if you want to read all the comments I have to search for it I can't remember where it's at.
but after all the great comments and a little bit of my own research I ended up going with Redline

Followed your advice regarding oil etc. Thank you. I just got the truck back this morning and she's running super quiet. My mechanic said come back in 3k miles and he'll do another oil change and look over everything to make sure everything is running correctly.

So hopefully the next month or so goes smooth and then I just need to buy a tuner to shut off the MDS! Lol

That's about what I paid brother.
here's my breakdown:
5.7 hemi Jasper engine $4,685
Engine install kit $380
MDS solenoids $366
Anti-freeze coolant $51
Oil filter, oil change $28
labor $1,050
Total $6,976
Hope this helps any future decisions brother.

So you didn't get the Jasper MDS delete motor? Looks like you are building it, correct? I know they just came out with them and was looking for some positive feedback. They look promising.

Hey brother, I didn't opt with the mechanical delete.
I instead promptly, after receiving my truck back, deleting MDS with my Diablo t1000.
I also went with Redline full synthetic oil.
Got about 6,000 mi on her now. So far so good!

Follow redline thread in my sig, there are proven redline oils for cold places and warm places and they are different. 5w30 redline is the gold standard at tick killing in the 5.7, and even in the 6.4, but in cold places many guys run 0w30 redline with same result but avoid piston slap. It can be a balancing act depending how cold it gets, finding the appropriate formula. Anyone having hemi tick and issues with formulations follow what others have done on the board, and vote in the polls over there to get accurate info whether or not the oil was successful. Some of the votes that were unsuccessful helped us develop other strategies that worked, bottom line most of us lubrication is the only reasonable strategy and it has been proven to actually work most of the time.

You are the one that turned me on to Redline sir. thank you for that.
I am currently using 5W-20.
May have to make the switch to 5W-30 after I use up the two bottles already in my garage....
Will you be so kind as to provide your link for us?
And thanks again, your knowledge about oil is unbelievable sir.

I wouldn't worry too much. I have a Jasper engine in a vehicle I own. 80,000 miles on the engine so far. Runs great, makes good power, no oil use or leaks. Seems to run as good as the day we installed it.

I don't get it. I've owned Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth and now Ram (2019 1500 Classic-5.7). Since 1982, just about all engines (225, 318, 360, 383, 400, 440) I've put at least 250k and most 450k+ (all the 318's). What does the "HEMI" require so much TLC? Dome pistons? MDS? And seriously, Red Line? 50 bucks a gallon? My hemi requires 7 quarts-that's 100.00 plus filter!
