Thanks, my truck is a single cab. I don’t think I have automatic temperature control. If I do I’ve never used it. I’ll have to check it. Where are there instructions on changing out the HVAC module?

See the 8.4 upgrade thread directions for getting to the HVAC module... (Remove lower glove box and right side dash cover at the door).

And ATC thread for additional reference...

Thanks, this looks a lot more complicated and expensive than I was expecting. I’ll probably be in 2 grand to get it done...will have to do some thinking

If you look on eBay for everything should only run about $800-$900. Depending on the radio price. Brand new the 8.4 bezels sky rocketed in price after most of us did the upgrade.

Also keep an eye on the for sale section on the forum.

With some patience/shopping around... approx:
$700 for a used UAS radio
$125 for USB hub
$40 hub adapter harness

$130 18 HVAC module
And/or
$125 ATC wiring &
$120 ATC sensors

about $1250 if you have to get everything.

Plus programming BCM with AlfaOBD for ATC if that's needed. You can probably use current HVAC module with UAx radio if ATC is added. If you serious I may be able to point you to someone with a UAS radio. Shot me a pm with a phone number and email if you'd like to discuss anything.

IMG_20190729_173728.jpg IMG_20190729_173759.jpg For those trying to do it a bit cheaper - took a few tries (#@@$#$ LKQonline) but swapped RA2 radio for a 2018 UAS successfully, without changing bezel. Annoys wife she can't reach volume control, but I don't mind :)

I actually have bought the wrong model twice, but another forum member & I connected and we swapped units, which worked out great for both of us (I had a 2019 UAS that I couldn't use, and he had a 2018 UAS he couldn't use - so we swapped and worked out great). (my old RA2 & that incorrect model RA4 are on ebay....)

UAS radio (~ 475 with warranty from LKQ), harness from M2Mods ($40), Hub from ebay ($98) - all in about 650. I didn't want to mess with AC controls, etc - very happy with how it turned out. Only thing you notice is that the fan indicator on the screen only goes up to 4, vs 7 speeds, which I am learning to ignore. Wasn't worth the additional aggravation.

Love android auto, makes my truck feel newish again, without that new car payment. Good for another 60,000 miles or whatever shiny new toy comes next, LOL!

Will upload picture later, but the 2018 screen is just slightly wider, so you don't even notice the gap from the earlier radios.

Yes, LKQonline is the way to go. Got my UAQ for a really good price too. $50 Schram bezel , FCA hvac module and @Mpgrimm2 harnesses to finish it all off. These UAx radios are worth it imho, Thanks to M2 Mods and everyone here on the forum for their assistance in making it possible.

What he said X2 - screen very clear, very responsive to touch - connects bluetooth within a few seconds, android auto within 1-2 seconds of plugging in. Feels more modern too - so while my truck is 5 years old, it doesn't "feel" dated anymore. The RA2 was fine, but do love this new radio.

Thanks, I will do that. In fact since I’m going to have everything apart, I’m probably going to add a rear cargo camera as well. Might as well do it all at
one time

I really love my truck. It is a sport edition. It has a single cab, and 6.4 bed. I got a good deal when I bought it off the lot, and I’ve had absolutely no problems with it.

The only thing I wish I had is the Rambox. That to me is one of the most useful features a pickup can have

I was actually looking at ordering a 2019, but no Rambox on the 6.4 bed, and apparently none coming for the near future
I have located a guy that has one on a 2017, he is going to put a flatbed on his truck , and sell his rambox

I am likely do the swap, and keep my truck another 10 years. So since she’s going to stay in the family, she’s going to get freshened up

Roger

You mentioned you have a 2017. Did you replace the bezel for cosmetics or was it necessary to make the radio fit?

Does anyone know the mopar part number of the USB expansion? It's referenced here:
I also see mention in Post #1027 (https://www.ramforum.com/posts/1981544/) the need to update a setting to enable this second port. Can anyone confirm doing this successfully?
You just missed my link at the bottom of post 5 or 6...

It doesn't work with the dual ram hub for sure... Might work with the single Compass hub but I don't have one to test currently...

Thanks for pointing to that. I have a hard time understanding what each PN includes when they don't have good pictures.

I have a compass media hub (1 USB port) on the way.

It sounds like I need:
  1. 18 Compass 2nd Row/Remote USB port (RSX sales code)
    ... PN: 5UV99LXHAA $41
    https://parts.allmoparparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-usb-port-5uv99lxhaa
which appears to just be the USB port with no wiring.
  2. ALT PN (per Benny at AllmoparParts)
    PN: 68251059AE $48 ... CONFIRMED
    https://parts.allmoparparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-wiring-console-68251059ae
which appears to be the cheapest known wiring part number with the USB cable?
I'm interested in giving this a try but am also considering waiting to see if others confirm this works with the Compass hub.

No one else has tried it/or plans to as far as I know outside that video you linked. I plan to give it a go if I find a deal on a used compass hub or I might pull the one out of my wife's compass if she will let me take her car apart again.

The design is done and test fits in a spare console top have been done, but we need a test fit in a truck to insure that there is no interference between the hub and the bracket inside the console/seat. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble getting it (or anything else) to print in the Tough PLA plastic. The regular PLA is not strong enough, the tabs that hold the adaptor into the console break too easily. Once everything is confirmed as fitting then we can can set them up for printing in Nylon plastic from one of the commercial services and not have to worry about the material strength, but first I need to get a successful print in the Tough PLA for the final fitment testing. I've got another attempt running right now, a single adapter takes about 2.5 hours to print on my little printer.

This is one done in Blue PLA for contrast in photographing. The final design will have nicely rounded edges and therefor look more OEM but this shows that it fits in the console opening and that the hub fits in it. The final design is also a bit shorter (doesn't come as close to the top edge).

Any update on this? Do you have a file you can share so I could print one myself?

Does anyone know the part number for the two Canadian radios? I can get my hands on a P/N 68340153AI for a decent price, just not sure if it will work.
Also I have a 2017 2500 w/ the 8.4 and Auto-Dual Climate, so it should be plug and play, correct? Just need to switch the media hub?
