I did the updates from 18.14 > 22.6 > 28.3 without any issues. I started 39.6 and got to an issue after the initial 2-minute prep screen. Once the radio restarted to begin the update, the screen didn't come back on, even after a few minutes. I turned the truck off to see allowing the radio to sleep will fix the issue. Hopefully the radio isn't bricked...

EDIT: Letting the radio sleep worked; the radio turned back on when the truck was started. I continued the update process with 39.6 and I'll find out in 34 minutes if there were any problems with 39.6.

If 39.6 is giving you issues, you can go straight from 28.3 to 40.1 BUT let the 39.6 update fail and recover (back to a working radio) before trying to swap the files for the 40.1 update. I only included 39.6 in your upgrade path in case one of these updates specifically addressed your original issue so you could document it.

Hello, I have the same problem. I own a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I tried to update my Uconnect 8.4 and I downloaded version 17.4 from the links and everything was running without problems until I came across the message No token found for VIN (my VIN number). Please remove the USB stick to reset. After removing the usb key, it only spins, wait 2-5 minutes and then please insert update USB. Can you please help me? Thank you.

You can update but if everything is working properly I generally would advise you not to.

Well from the pictures it looks like the internal aircard may have failed (all of the Sierra values are NULL). That is what my RA4 looked like when it's GPS failed. This means that attempting to update might result in bricking the radio and it won't work anymore.

If it is running slow, can you feel if the radio is warm/hot to the touch? The best way to do this is to feel the back of the radio and the metal heat syncs. It's possible that improving the cooling of your radio will restore performance/speed.

When I touch it I feel it at a normal temperature all the time
it always slow responding even when I start morning and do not yet get a temperature high
I will try to check it from the back side (the metal)

I added to computer cooling fans and replaced the factory thermal pads inside with Arctic thermal material. Here are more details...

Found a fix that worked for a 2017 1500 display screen, 8.4

My 2017 1500 Laramie had an issue I found out that can be common for 8.4 screens. The screen was jumping from SiriusXM to media player all on its own, very randomly and very annoying. Googled that issue and found out it is somewhat common, I tried the reset suggestion, holding the mute button...

Just an FYI, the radio mentioned is an overseas 2016 Part number Charger RA4/VP4 unit, - RoW = Rest of World.
There are very few, if any -ROW sw files on this site and likely even less charger specific files (they're not the same files as 13-17 ram radios).

Also, for any updates from v15.xx.x, they need to update to v17.x.x and then to v18.x.x (if they can find the 2015/16 charger specific VP4-ROW files). CustomTronix in Holland may be able to help with Sw updates for it?

I have also installed this in a 2014 truck and now seeing it's the least compatible, having the volume issue along with the settings issue.

I installed the radio back in March for the themes, my truck is a 14 Sport so did come with an 8.4. Worked great until a few weeks ago I lost volume and couldn't access settings. Came back after a couple days but had now been out for 4 days.

You will need to update to 2016 Canadian RA3/Vp3-CA SW v17.x, then to v18.45.x

Unfortunately, I don't have the Canadian version 17.x for that year/radio.

Hello all..... THANK YOU FOR THIS THREAD.
I just finished upgrading my 2014 2500 6.7L RAM from a Harmon 8.4 to a 2018 Panasonic 8.4. Everything went very well until I installed the new Compass USB Hub. Dummy me I kept trying to get Carplay to work but I forgot that my phone was on the MagSafe wireless charger. Thanks again for all the reference material.

I just picked up a 2014 Durango. it had 13.xx.xx on it, a friend at a local dealer tried updating it straight to 17.11.02. I was told the version i needed before going to the 18.45.01 i needed to have 17.43. 01! After he install what i believe was the wrong update the backup camera doesn't work. After reading 50 of this post i discovered it should have had each update in order updated. Is there anyway to go back and apply the updates that should have been done?

I believe after the 16.x.x updates going backwards is not possible BUT I also don't believe that would be necessary.
