I don’t know how many have tried quantum blue oil by BND automotive. I ran their 7.5w23 oil in my 5.7 Ram for about a year along with their aces IV fuel additive in an attempt to quiet my engine noise. It did quiet the noise but was still there. I decided to give redline 5w30 a try. I’m only 250 miles into the new oil change, I’m going to run it for 5000 miles to see if things improve. Any opinions on which is the better product? Thanks..

Don't know too much about quantum blue, but there are enough members that use 5-30 redline that say their hemi is now quite where before they had issues with the hemi tick. I believe the price for redline is better. Check the the synthetic oil thread. There is a vender on the thread that supplies redline with free shipping. Nick is the name of the vendor.

When you judge an oil you check uoa's, voa's and most importantly how it operates in the stat sheets as far as viscosity goes. You measure base oil quality by checking temp at 100, noack, and hths all together. Then you look at the additive packages through voa and uoa. If you don't have access to all of these things, there isn't a chance in hell I would run that oil.

The other things are to consider are what specs are recommended of your vehicle is still under warranty. Hemi's only have 2, ms6395 being the main one. Redline has untold thousands of people that says it quiets engines, google it. What that means is up to each person, many people think that is a good thing.

Judging an oil other then that is like having a conversation with a donkey. Use the science to make your judgement, anyone can say my brand is better type things.

It would be really nice to know what the ms6395 spec is other than they paid FCA for a supposed 2 year test so they would say yeah, you don't have to use Pennzoil, you can use this. To me it's just blackmail.

There are a few other oils that meet the spec, all non-Mobil products of course :)

Someone on BITOG forums uploaded a scan of the exact specification document...its basically not quite as good as the current SN spec, so any SN oil exceeds it, even if it doesnt specifically show the Chrysler spec on the bottle. Ill see if I can dig up the link.

At least for now, if you want to be within all the rules, you're most likely tied to a Pennzoil product. PYB isnt a half bad oil, especially if short trips arent an issue.

I just had my first oil change and the dealer used PYB 5W-20. Since my commute is only 3 miles one way and its cold here (CT) Im thinking of dumping it and putting in QSUD 5W-30/5W-20 mix.

EDIT: found the link. The spec is from 2012 but Im not sure if its changed - https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/2865252/Re:_Chrysler_MS-6395#Post2865252

Much better options to choose from; check out the link and see all 216 oils tested.

Why the 93 gas?

Nothing scientific but I believe it's quieter and smoother with 93. Sometimes I think that all this noise and ticking that different people are chasing that some of it is pre-ignition before the knock sensors get it. Now I'm probably wrong about that, but that's just my thoughts. I'd rather not have pre ignition than depend on a sensor to stop it.
