look in my sig

Yes I cut open my oil filters as many of us do, documented in syn thread, I wont hold it against you for not reading that, I couldn't find those posts if I tried. I cut RP filters at 2 year mark, still like new. Operating temp of oil can degreade the spun microglass, but regular paper filters get stiff and useless somewhere around 3 mos. Not only that, but as you see in oil filter thread spun microglass also catches more contamination and it flows better, trimple whamey. RP filters can still be bought, last I lookded amazon has 8, and RP direct says they will continue to sell. 20-820 fits all 4 gens, the bigger filter. If you cant find that, look for 10-48 will also fit all 4 gens, just smaller.

That’s awesome! Great info thanks for all that. Red Line and RP seems like a killer combo! So happy I made the switch.

I was told to buy the 10-48.... wasn’t aware that 20-820 fits as well. Had no idea it was bigger and compatible. Bigger like width or length? (Don’t comment on that lmao). Was hard enough to even get the 10-48 in there. Why would one choose one over the other then? Stocked up on I think 7 RP 10-48 (hoping the seals don’t dry rot).

Would also love to know why ROYAL PURPLE HAS NO INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR FILTERS ON THEIR WEBSITE. HORRIBLE marketing practice.

Thier official word is that they are still in the oil filter business, despite taking down fitament chart and having most of the supply dry up and most retailers not selling them anymore. Kinda sad IMO, if the general public only new about the benefits of that filter, the one thing RP got right.

the only problem I have with the 10-48 when I opened it up was the small amount of pleating, measured just under 32" strung out. Damn, it's only like 1.5" in height! but it is extremely well built.

Has anyone had any issues with leaks on the Royal Purple filter? The few times I used a Mopar filter, it leaked after 1-2k. It would loosen itself up. I have since used both the WIX 57060 and 57060XP. The WIX doesn't leak like the Mopar. I have been thinking about the RP, since it looks like the best option.

There have been some, few and far between though, to be honest I think it is a ram thing more then a filter thing, but maybe some filters have thicker threads and go on tighter, dunno for sure. Use some loctite, that is what it's for. Sounds like you got some loose threads from the factory, fill that in with anti sieze type product, should stop it from backing off, actually will make is come off easier as well, you wont have to gorilla tighten that ****. If it is leaking after you hand tighten, I'd investigate the factory threads,

With the Mopar filter, I had to take two hands to get it to stop leaking. The WIX doesn't leak when hand tightened with one hand.

I hand tightened and I think used a filter plier to secure it even tighter. Nothing crazy but super snug. They actually have a video of them shaking the filter during testing to make sure it won’t come off during driving conditions.

do you have a warranty? if not consider 5w30. spend some time in synthetic oil thread. some legit reasons to go 5w30. and stock up on the RP 20-820 filters. great combo.

Will the RP 20-820 fit a 2005 5.7l ? Sorry if this is a rookie question.

Will that filter fit on a 2019 5.7? I want to order a few and try them. My truck sits for a week or two sometimes and it really sounds off after that long down.

The royal purple 10-48 is correct for the 2019 hemi, which means the 20-820 will fit.

Does Royal Purple still make the 10-48 filter? I can't seem to find it on Amazon (maybe low supply like everything else in this crazy world). Or is the RP 20-820 a superior filter for the hemi?

If the 10-48 fits, the 20-820 will fit.

The 20-820 is available on Amazon right now...in fact I ordered a few more, so thanks for the reminder!
