I just thought of something while in the shower!

I don't have to be so concerned about adding a expensive deep transmission pan to help aid in cooling the transmission fluid any longer.
Since the replacement of the ATF thermal by-pass valve block.
Just need a quality pan with a drain plug in a ideal position.

Still will probably add the PML - the PPE might be in the running!

Can't wait to get the new pan - new filter - new fresh ATF in place & get to tow @ least 10K lbs to actually see what the trans temps are going to run.

Once again: Thank You too everyone involved! :boobs:
Great Leg Work Gents!

47055 Napa Platinum I think is another option!
Possibly a XP Clone!

Local Napa has these for $8.99

we found a better thread for the filters, it is the threads on ebay with a hex drive or allen wrench in middle...

Joe’s threaded insert[emoji3596]

I went to Napa today and looked at this oil filter. Seemed good and well priced. Only thing I wanted to see was the cheese grader design on the center tube. Other than that worth a try.

^^^^ Yup my RP filters look very similar.
I remember reading about the Spiral Flow design - similar to a cyclone action (Supposedly) creating a much smoother/faster flow.

This is Just me & my opinion/thoughts - These are the filters I would not hesitate to use in my 68RFE in no particular order.

RP - Fram Ultra - Wix XP / Napa Platinum

The M1 would be my last choice if I could not gain access to those top 4.

My next step is to create or come up with a (Reasonable) service interval for this spin-on filter.

At the time of my first 68RFE filter change or OEM pan replacement- With this new threaded adapter I bought from RevMax - I'm going to apply a few drops of blue loctite to the threads that screw up into the RFE itself & snug fairly securely (Just like within a engine block).

Then just basically hand tight the filter so the gasket seals.
Just like you would a normal oil filter to a motor block.

Any thoughts?

SyN, would you use the Amsoil one, or do you consider it interchangeable with the RP?

Are you asking me would I run the Amsoil filter?
Instead of the RP?

Yeah, would it be in your list of usable filters, if the RP wasn’t available?

Also, do you consider the Amsoil filter and RP filter basically the same?

By all means!
Unless either company has made changes to the actual design - I consider them both pretty much identical.

I honestly would not hesitate to install any of the 4 brands that have been listed.
They are all such of a higher quality compared to the OEM it is ridiculous.

In my head - I hear RP/XP/Platinum/XG!
So Amsoil would be one of my top choices.

DoubleWasp: has been running the XG for a decent amount of miles/time with no issues - so I pretty much figure we are perfectly fine with any of those listed.

This rascal has me curious!

a couple guys should be getting these, I would if I didn't have 170 dollars worth of RP filters on the credit card:) and a ton of **** going on this summer. could make a couple bucks, and then some. 20 bucks sale price, 5 dollars to ship, 15 bucks to you x 10, and costs you 55 bucks, seams like a winner.

It cost $65 after shipping.

Dont ever consider that M1 for your trans. Search the world for the other options. I never showed anybody or said anything but when I cut that one open and cut open the OEM transmission spin on filter the media was very similar.

I’m not sure I can personally consider the M1EP any form of a synthetic or hardly even a blend. It was very much paper like and very stiff WHEN NEW. Flow would suck ass.

I would rather run a filter that flows a lot better and maybe filters not as well versus running that M1EP or any paper or syn blend filter for that matter in my trans.

Hell. I would run a puro BOSS before that. The Purolator boss is not known for the greatest efficiency because it is a single layer of synthetic media. Not near as thick as a RP. At least the Purolator BOSS is plastic mesh backed media. That M1 had no backing.

Boss is the las one reviewed. Starts at 6:23

I take back what i say about running a BOSS in my trans.

Because they dont make one in that size.

WTF.

So a subaru owner can only run a puro classic. [emoji23]. To bad for you subaru

 Like I said in my post The M1 filter would be my last choice!
So there is a 98% probable chance I will never buy one. :drunk:

Also I don't expect everyone to agree with my thoughts & ideas within my posts.
At the end of the day - I do honestly feel by what I have seen the M1 filter is still a decent step or 2 above the OEM.

Would I recommend it or run it within my 68RFE?
Only if the other owner or I couldn't gain access to a RP/XP/Platinum or XG!

Burla: Has brought up a very interesting possible issue with using the XP filter in very cold climates - Due to the higher by-pass pressure.
This probably needs to be discussed a bit more.

Hi, sorry my info was jumbled. Put simply, my trans fluid exits my trans, hits a 3-micron hydraulic filter, cooler, and then the XG7317.

My fluid stays pretty clean. :)

I'm about to screw around with larger 7317 equivalents to see if I can fit a bigger filter in there. Going to cut the old one open to see what it looks like after service.

Going to cut the OEM one too and check that out as well. Photos tomorrow night for that one.

Just did the fluid drain, new filters, added the metal threaded insert, what else...I think that's it. My magnetic plug had about a pea sized ball of super fine metal on it, as did a lot of the PML pan and the filters as well. I cleaned the pan out nice and good, got everything in there nice and snug. I was running the Redline tranny oil in there, and it looked like it was as good as new after 50k miles. My only concern was the cheapy spin on filter, so I'll likely wait another 75k miles (using Mopar ATF4+ now) until I drop the pan and do it all over again (super messy).

I noticed some fluid on the rear of the pan where the exhaust goes under it (because of my ****** RTV job), and it looks like I was down a couple of quarts (drained 9, refilled 11). Somehow none of it ever managed to drip on my driveway.
