Relative noob here. I have a 2019 Lone Star 1500 Classic. It has about 45K miles on it. Starting to think ahead for transmission service. It has a Torqueflite 8 speed automatic transmission (I think). I see people calling their transmissions ZF. I know it's made by ZF. Are we just saying different names for the same thing?

My real questions is does anybody have a recommendation for a transmission service kit (fluids, pan, etc.) Recommendations appreciated. Thanks.

Fluids Valvoline maxlife or lifegard 8, this transmission doesn't like the higher quality fluids

Look up motor city mechanic he has video's how too, it is a two video process just to check the level.

The transmission in these trucks does have dual names, depending on which engine you have. The Pentastar has the ZF 8HP45 which also goes by the 845RE . This is in part that Ram is licensed to build the transmission which was designed by ZF.
The transmission behind the Hemi will typically use the 8HP70 naming, these transmissions have been been built in house and by ZF.
Ram branded the transmissions in these trucks "Torqueflight" for marketing purposes

I every time I see one of your posts i notice the
" Did lubegard Biotech kill your hemi tick?

Did Redline Help your Hemi Tick?"

So I have to ask, Is there something to it other than possibly a bit of sarcasm ?:emotions34::favorites13:

Ten year tests from 100's of ram forum members.. They are the same science heavy EP additives and EP base oils such as moly and esters along with other goodies.

lubegard Cheaper lesser EP additives 50% success rate

redline Expensive more robust EP additives 80% success rate

see polls read threads, best cure for hemi tick on pair with replacing lifters, yeah that good. Mis fire is another story.

I recommend the aluminum PPE pan/filter. As for fluid, maxlife is fairly cheap and I've heard no complaints about it. I'm using the Amsoil SS fuel efficient ATL.

If you have any kind of warranty in play, OE all the way. (I made a rhyme....lol)

Otherwise, PPE pan, fluid choice up to you (Maxlife is supposed to be great)

Don't give them any reason to deny a claim.

Agreed. The bare aluminum pan with 2 extra quart capacity is the cheapest: https://www.amazon.com/PPE-Heavy-Duty-Transmission-Compatible-Challenger/dp/B07RJK9H2W

I purchased the all black one: https://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Duty-Transmission-228053020-Compatible-Challenger/dp/B07RDCL2SD

7 quarts of fluid: https://www.amazon.com/Mopar-Chrysler-Automatic-Transmission-Quarts/dp/B084R6KWDM
