I used some generic from Amazon units, they have worked great for the past week.
I did not throw any error codes etc.

I would think that even the DRL voltage would be enough to turn on the LEDs, but I am not positive of that fact.

Ah- good catch. I should measure the voltage the DRL module puts out.

I just have to meter the pigtail later today to see what she's putting out; Greg was right that the LED will flicker or not light up at all with less than 12V- I hadn't considered that. If so, I'll just order a schwack of cheapo 9005 bulbs instead of another $50 for PIAAs for the highs which I don't use anyway.

That;s so **** you have DRL's..lol

but those would be great to use as DRL's, but dont except them to have any light output..

IIRC the DRL circuit is 1/2 the highbeam voltage (That's what Dodge used to do). DRL should be 6 volts.

Well, to close this off, our trucks, at least in Canada, don't use the highbeams for DRLs; they use the low beams.
So, problem solved bu virtue of I can't and it doesn't matter LOL

I just to figure out how my neighbor saw my wife driving with a burnt out high beam? Why would the high beams EVER be on??

Because Canada is a big dark scary place full of moosi (mooses?) and ax murders.
I'd use my high beams too!
