Just thought I'd share my Blackstone oil analysis report with PUP 5w20 and a Fram XG10060 oil filter.

This was the 2nd oil change, first one was done at 3k miles. I'm surprised at the additives still left at 5k miles (TBN 4.7). I live in WI, park outside, and drive +75% hwy.

I'm running Redline oil now with Royal Purple filter and will probably run it 7k miles (change at 15k truck miles).

Happy Holidays!

What about the report made you switch to redline?

Tidefan is right, there's a good amount of discussion about the Moly in redline being beneficial and I'd like to see the comparison at the next oil change with remaining additives and overall results. I also had to do the oil change before I got any results back.

Overall we'll see what the numbers show and go from there.

Thanks for sharing, those numbers are high but don't let that trouble you. They are high because it's a hemi and a young engine. You may want to wait til that engine hits 25k before doing more uoa's. Is there any tick or knock? Anyhow, regardless many many young engines look like that, mines looks like that even 20k miles in.

If you have time read my oil filter thread, look at the patch test.

Back then fram ultra was called xtended guard, the whiter the patch the better the filter held the contamination. When you have a lot of contamination it acts like fine sand paper in the engine. Look below is why most of us use RP or Ultra filters. In a high wear engine, this is real important. And when paper filter are long since toasted, synthetic filters out last any oci.

If you are spending redline dollars, you really need to spend a couple more and get a filter. You can even extend your oci a bit to pay for it. What ever is on that patch on the right, is rolling around your engine. Amsoil filters are equal to the RP, best choice, Ultra next best.

I've always used Amsoil in everything I have. From dirt bikes to diesels. I will also be using Amsoil in the new Ram!

Cool Story Bro.

You may want to learn about all the changes any oil formulation goes through overtime, just to be educated on it and have more to say on it. There is a thread or two around here where we all research the stuff.

I called the dealer before my first oil change and asked if they have and could use PUP and after checking, the service scheduler told me that they do use PUP. I scheduled my oil change and when I dropped of the truck I again asked to verify they would use PUP and they said yes.

After I picked up my truck and got home I looked at the bill and cross referenced the part number for the oil they used and I cross referenced to Pennzoil Platinum so I don't know for sure whether they used PUP or PP.

I'm not going to loose any sleep over it because PP is still great oil but I would rather have PUP and will ask to look at the oil container before they change the oil again.

Mopar service may have PP readily available but PUP may not be as available and they may not know (or care) about the difference - just full synthetic.

As far as I know dealers use PP for the 5.7 and PUP for the 6.4 and hellcat. Even the OEM Mopar oil part numbers cross reference this way.

they may not stock PUP in 5W-20 at the dealer so they gave you PP

Done the same thing to me at the Dealer when I bought the 2014 Ram. Never had dealer do it again...The neighbor just down the road who services all the school buses said get filter and oil you want and I will change for you for 15.00 bucks! Needless to say I go to him and have for years now.
