Another example of the poor quality failures and decisions that RAM is continuing to make. I agree with the members that recognize this is simply short term thinking. Why fix anything right or design it better, when the customer will trade it in less than 90k miles. Chevy and Ford have the same attitude.

I checked mine today. they where tight. but i got them tighter. I was surprised that the threads are the same. on other trucks with a close set up. they have right and left threads. this could be the problem.

Wouldnt they have to have opposite threads to allow the adjuster to actually make adjustments?

No it still works fine.

Hmmm. Heres what im getting at...

The threads can only be one certain way. When the collar spins, each end has to spin out or in... thats how it is adjustable. There is no other way around it.

And the drivers side nut is normal... lefty loosy righty tighty. The passenger side nut is the opposite... lefty tighty righty loosy.

Gentlemen, I am not sure if every dealer is different or what the story is, but when I called to have mine done, they stated the fix was going to be a complete replacement of the bar and a front end alignment. The kicker was they did not have enough parts and were only doing this to the 2017-18 models at this time which sucks because I have a 2016 Ram. This was a week ago when I called to have scheduled. They stated they will call when the parts are available and the earlier models are ready. :banghead:

I think your dealer may be confused. Only vehicles that fail the inspection of the adjuster will have the adjuster replaced, and very few vehicles will actually need it.

I have a feeling there will be another recall eventually to replace all the welded adjusters in the future. Likely the reason they aren’t just replacing them now is due to parts availability. All the new adjusters are probably needed on the assembly lines for the new HD models.

Drag link ok? I guess. Dumb question, what does a welded drag link look like?

Took mine in today and refused to let them weld the nuts. the dealer was fine with this and even said they didn't blame me. I told them to lock tight the nuts and they said that was probably a better fix but they could not do it, told them I would do it and was told the torque value was 15 ft/lbs. they also dont think the weld repair is the final fix.

15 ft/lbs. !!!?!?!?!?!? WTF!!! No wonder why they come loose on them!

Put a set of wrenches on the damn nuts and put your ass into it and be done with this stupid ass recall! This is sooooo STUPID!

It is more, it’s 109 ft/lbs. 15 ft/lbs is the initial spec for checking the drag link adjuster jam nuts before they are welded or the adjuster threads inspected. If the nuts pass 15 ft/lbs and there is no movement, then they are torqued to 109 ft/lbs and welded.

Yes that does make more sense than 15. I'm still gonna lock tight mine at least I can still get it apart if adjustments are needed

WTH!!!! I just got my 2018 a few months ago. Saving for the level kit and now I get the recall letter in the mail. This sucks. So it's either have it welded, pay double for alignments, and make lift/level difficult. Or don't do the recall, risk totalling my brand new truck that I typically only use with 5 tons behind me, and possibly void any coverage? Got it. Thanks Dodge/Ram/Mopar/FCA/Whatever

Just check it yourself and make sure it’s tight. It’s not magically going to come off. Tons of people never get under their trucks. The fix sucks the problem is eh.
